In high school, there was a kid that would always do a flip throw. It usually either went straight up into the air and traveled a couple years or was a line drive at your head.It seems kinda pointless, tho.
Once in a blue moon, it was lofted in with a decent trajectory. But I don’t ever remember scoring off of it
To your point, yea it’s pointless. It’s basically a left back booting a ball into the box with everyone’s back to goal.

Much like in hockey, any shot is a good shot... any ball into the box (especially with players there waiting) is a dangerous ball.
