I've tried really hard the last 25 years to get into it and I just can't. Exactly for the same reason you note. I mean I can watch soccer in almost any form and enjoy myself and I'm not sure if it's just a mental thing but I just I'm not interested in MLS.

My buddy is a big Sounders supporter and got me into them a few years back, to the extent where I traveled out to Seattle to see their rivalry match against Portland and have gone to several away fixtures. We go with Emerald City Supporters, so after they won the US Open Cup in Philly a few years back, we got invited to a private after party at the Fieldhouse in Philly, and got to hang out with Schmid, Frei, Brad Evans, and a few others.

Obviously the quality of play is nowhere near the Euro leagues, but it's really what has gotten me into the sport in the first place.

I think if I lived in a city that had a team, or if Pittsburgh had a team, I'd get into the league, but without that and without the talent level being even close to european leagues, my opinion so far has been: pass.

I would be all about it if we had a team in PGH.
