Your wife bought a Man U mug in Leeds? Oy ...
She was studying abroad, and as a typical college student in 2008, Man U was really the only EPL team she really knew about. I appreciated it. :)

I know that no one besides me actually cares about Southampton on this site... potentially in this state, but I'm enjoying the Ralph Hasenhuttl revitalization of this team. They're attacking more and players are back to forms like we've seen them previously. I think my favorite is James Warde-Prowse. Under the past few managers, he was looking like that kid that was going to be a super star, but just flopped. Now he's playing with some aggression that I haven't seen from him in my entire time watching this team.

I'm also enjoying how much people are hating him after this interaction:

Anyways... like the direction this team is moving. Hope they keep moving forward.
What caused/inspired you to be a fan of Southampton?

Two things:

1. When NBC first started broadcasting EPL games, Southampton were growing a reputation of being giant killers. Pochettino and Keuman had them playing fun, attacking football.

2. During my grad school days, we had a collaboration with scientists at the University of Southampton. None of them were Southampton fans, but it was a connection that drew me to the saints.

Who do the soccer people in this topic root for?
FC Hradec Kralove (Czech 2 League; relegated from the Czech 1 League 2013, 2015, 2017)

SC Freiburg (Bundesliga; last year 15th out of 18, latest relegation from Bundesliga 2015)

Because apparently I love suffering....

Asian Championship Finals - Qatar (90something in FIFA ranking, only 1 import on its roster, and even that one was a sub!) beats the biggest favorite Japan 3:1. The first goal was unbelievable!

Indeed. After all the near misses and close calls that’s the junk that gets by him.

Thought it was a weird lineup from Poch. Vertonghen on the wing and an extreme focus on crosses yet no Llorenete in the starting lineup, whose only use is headers because his feet don’t work. Whatever. Another W, record for no draws, and still in the mix for the top spot.

Milner a mile offside and yet there're still VAR sceptics.

Just watched Sheffield United blow a three goal lead with 8 minutes left in the second half against Aston Villa.

It will never not be amazing to me that I can watch League One football on my tv, via mirroring from my phone, for $6/month.

As much as I hate the possibility of so’ton falling to the championship, the possibility of playing Pompey again is fun. Assuming Portsmouth gets promoted, of course.
