I don't understand. They had plenty of success, reaching the WC final in 74 (while probably being the best team, too), 78, and 2010, and won the Euros in 88. Right now they simply don't have that many good players. That said, they should be good enough to reach the WC.
They've also missed the world cup way too many times for a country with their talent: 2018, 2002, 1986, 1982. They've a well-earned reputation for being mentally volatile.

I think given their population they've been doing ok overall. Meh, I guess it depends on how you look at it.

As I mentioned in the Politics thread, I've been reading Harding'd Collusion book, part of which is dedicated the Steele dossier. In the course of his investigation into Steele's background, he found that Steele had also been hired by the English FA to investigate how Russia was able to beat England out to host the 2018 WC. Steele found that Putin had coordinated with various Russian oligarchs to make sure the right amount of bribe money found its way into the pockets of the right FIFA voters.

So, it seems like the Russians have continued greasing the right palms to get that sort of draw.

Funny happening toward the end of the So'ton game...

Botched the throw-in and played it off rather well, I'd say.

FA draw has some interesting 3rd round matchups...

As for EPL teams facing each other:
Man City v. Burnley
Brighton v. Crystal Palace
Liverpool v. Everton

Middlesbrough v. Sunderland will showcase last year's bottom two from the EPL, and Wolves v. Swansea will showcase the championship's best team v. EPL's worst team. Should be some other good matches in there too.

They have legit dudes on the payroll like Marcotti and Honigstein, but the panel was apparently much wider than their top guys:
With more than 60 ESPN voters spanning regions around the world, we've broken down the game's top [managers and] players by position for the most authoritative and comprehensive list yet.

Did I hear it right in the FS1 pre-game that Messi's new contract has an $800 million buyout clause?

America: A land where I can watch a soccer match between a club from Morroco and a club from Saudi Arabia held in the United Arab Emirates broadcast in Spanish on a random over-the-air substation. What a country! ;)

I think I'll tune into the MLS finals tonight. Haven't watched an MLS game in years.

I know right?

I think if I lived in a city that had a team, or if Pittsburgh had a team, I'd get into the league, but without that and without the talent level being even close to european leagues, my opinion so far has been: pass.
