Guardiola's City averages 750+ passes per game.

City's number doesn't shock me... Huddersfield Town's does.

I just took a look... City had 80% possession for the game. Holy shnikeys.

Yeah, sorry, it wasn't meant to be a direct response. That said, I figured the number would be somewhere in the 600-650 range.

A few crazy league finishes (some countries run on Spring-Fall system):

Georgia: The last round featured Torpedo Kutaisi at Dynamo Tbilisi. Kutaisi needed to win the game to capture the league title; a tie was sufficient for Tbilisi to retain the title. Kutaisi led 1:0, until Tbilisi got the chance to score the penalty shot equalizer in the 96th(!!) minute. Here is the result:

Belarus: BATE Borisov (a relatively frequent Champions League participant) needed a tie to retain the title (12th in a row). They were down 3:1 with 12 minutes to go. Then this:

and this (95th minute):

Working on the assumption that its Yashin, I suppose it makes sense to go with the throwback look. Its also interesting that they went with more of an Asiatic style, rather than more European-Moscovite style.

these groups are by and large trash. The only group with two A-list teams -- Portugal and Spain in Group B -- is rounded out with two minnows.

Group F is a de facto group of death but that's generous in comparison to prior iterations of GoD.

Yeah, Group F will be considered the GoD and even that's weak.

One of Russia, Saudi Arabia, or Egypt are guaranteed a spot in the knockout stage.... wtf.

Why is the Dutch team never as good as I think they should be? (That could be fully on me, mind you.)

I don't understand. They had plenty of success, reaching the WC final in 74 (while probably being the best team, too), 78, and 2010, and won the Euros in 88. Right now they simply don't have that many good players. That said, they should be good enough to reach the WC.
