85MM is a hefty price tag.

We’re having a nice little season, yeah let’s definitely transfer Rice.

I don’t claim to understand the whole soccer transfer process but why would they do that? Apart from the 85 mil....

Every time I've watched Leeds this season they look like they're about League Two quality.

85 million is a pretty compelling reason. Plus Rice will want to play for a top club.

Simplest explanation is that players are assets. Selling Rice for 85MM would plug a lot of balance sheet issues caused by the pandemic. In a perfect world you sell your best player who wants to play at a top club for big money and buy a bunch of up and comers to hopefully help grow the club. Spurs sold Bale for what was at the time a record fee and bought 7 new players with the money. Totally transformed the look of the club, though unfortunately they only hit on about 1.5 of the players they purchased.

Rice is going to want out sooner or later. For WHU fans my concern would be that it’s being done in a compressed financial market at a sub optimum price to plug financial gaps and won’t be funneled to improving the on-field product.

So is Cornella. 0-0 vs Barca so far, thanks to two missed penalties.
