Podcast is scaled back & more talk, less hype / enthusiasm for a video screen. Whether that's good or not is up to you; I think it's still decent to listen to.

MLS is going to go the way of the NASL (the old one).

But, their best best is to introduce pro/rel.

I don't know. I think MLS has been pretty careful about how they've expanded so far. There seem to be a fair number of cities like Nashville that make a big deal about saying that they're ready to get into MLS (Sacramento, Detroit, St. Louis, San Antonio, etc.), but now it seems like if you want in, you need serious cash in the ownership group (as in billions, not just hundreds of millions), a realistic plan to have access to a nice stadium, and evidence of fan support. It's telling, I think, that the league hasn't given the official green light to Beckham's Miami team, since they're still floundering with the stadium situation.

There's already 3 tiers of soccer leagues in place... they should start up the relegation/promotion styles of Europe and elsewhere.

I agree that promotion and relegation would be cool, but the way I've heard it explained, it's just not going to happen for a long time (if ever) for financial reasons. MLS is trying (and succeeding) to get new owners to pay $100 million+ for expansion franchises. They can't very well have expansion teams relegated after owners pay that kind of money. MLS is also constantly trying to up its fee for broadcasting rights. It would suck for them negotiating with the broadcasters if, say, Chicago and Houston (the two bottom teams right now) drop to a lower division and are replaced by Peoria and El Paso.

I've read that as well, that MLS was specifically designed back in 1994 to not have pro/rel and that it is structured to never allow it.

Do any of you listen to the Pia Sundage Elite podcast? I know @shafnutz05 is a big Pia Sundage guy and he loves the show.

I was about to freak out a bit as I tried to get the Southampton game streaming, but it said Comcast doesn't cover that. WTF? But I just signed out, signed back in and it popped up. Phew...

...U.S. Soccer made it clear in the statement that there is likely more to this than meets the eye.

Wow, a year after drawing ManCity, Sevilla, and Juventus, Gladbach now draws Barcelona and, again, City ...
