On the bright side it will be one less sport I'll have to care about. Or maybe I'll just switch my official college basketball fan allegiance to UF.

Stallings was reasonably successful early on but has a checkered tourney history, has been at his current job for a long time and in need of a change and had things trending downward. Pitt basically broke up with a girl to date someone who looks exactly like their ex.
Dixon has a significantly better head of hair.

Completely ignoring the fact that this guy is a wholly mediocre coach, I can't believe Pitt would even give a second thought to a coach that already has a terrible relationship with one of their top returning players, whose younger brother is a top recruiting target for the football team. It's just so damn stupid. Screw Barnes. Bring in Randy Juhl to make this hire.

You don't want Stallings. And you're rightfully nervous if you're a Pitt fan if you're seeing this rumor. That would be a terrible hire.

Now Keatts, on the other hand, would be a sneaky good hire. UNCW was **terrible** when he took over (Buzz Peterson dumpster fire) and turned them into an NCAA team in less than 3 years. Hell, they weren't exactly all that great in January when we (Towson) beat them at our place. Turn around 2 months later and they run roughshod through the conference. I'd give Keatts a shot before I brought in the follicle-challenged Stallings.

Keatts has been at the top of my list since the start, but figured he had no shot due to the Louisville hooker situation. I really want him or Enfield.

Please hire Keatts so UNCW can go back to being terrible and W&M can do better in the CAA.

Keatts graduated from Marshall so he's cool in my book.

Jon Rothstein: Pitt has offered its HC position to Kevin Stallings and he is expected to accept, sources told @CBSSports. Story: http://cbsprt.co/1oe7CyJ

Just terrible news. I would take anyone over this guy. Andy Toole. Tim McConnell. Kevin Willard. Ralph Willard. Mike Rice. Ken Rice. Anyone. If this is the best they could get with "current head coaches" then just bite the bullet and give Brandin Knight the job. At least then you wouldn't piss off all your players by hiring a guy who already has a terrible relationship with a returning senior.

Dude that runs the search firm Pitt utilized was the AD at Vanderbilt who hired Stallings. Dude also hired Barnes as Associate AD when he was the AD at Washington. Hooray for nepotism!

Matt Steinbrink, who runs the hoop side of PantherLair is absolutely murdering Barnes right now.

I hope they get a slew of season ticket cancellations. I'm not one for letting the inmates run the asylum but I can't believe that a single booster or higher up affiliated with the program didn't hop on Twitter last night and come away with the impression that maybe this isn't such a good idea. Re-invigorating the shrinking fanbase this is not.

A standard agreement with a search firm is the fee being 20% of the annual salary. I would kill to get the commission they got for this hire

We all have seen sports teams make terrible coaching hires. Sometimes, this involves hiring a terrible coach, somebody like Les Steckel with the Minnesota Vikings. Sometimes it’s a matter of hiring a great coach with just the wrong approach for the job he accepts, thinking Kelvin Sampson at Indiana.

Sometimes it’s all just so tone-deaf we’re left to shake our heads in amazement.

lolol...you couldn't write a better script in the relationship between Pitt and PSU fans. What are the odds both of us would end up with the most recent Vanderbilt coaches for our most prominent sports programs
