I keep waiting for everyone to add 4k content - Verizon, Comcast, etc. - because it would finally force me to make a decision on TiVo. My current TiVos are all limited to 1080p, and if Verizon suddenly added 4k versions of the channels that I watch, I think I would consider moving to their boxes. Or, at the very least, seriously consider going with one of the streaming options.

I'm not sure there is a limit, to be honest. The mesh UI looks like it could handle a lot more than the two units I have in my house. Each router has four ports, but I'm sure you could get an ethernet hub to expand that.

Does each need an Ethernet connection?

Technically, no. It does have a wireless repeating mode, but the speeds/connection won't be as good. I have both connected via ethernet cable.

@dodint: Did you ever seriously consider something other than GoPro? I need a replacement, and the alternatives just look cheap.

Yeah, I am getting an AIm SmartyCam setup. But it's designed specifically for motorsports and probably not what you want.

Ah, yeah, probably not. I may end up just biting the bullet and taking advantage of the 25% coupon code.

I think I'm going to go with a DJI Osmo Action:

The Insta360 was an alternative, but it's expensive for my use case.

So 4K has been added to YouTube TV, $9.99/mo. Also, 5.1 audio support.

my biggest issue is in our bedroom/bathroom. our TV has a coax connection up there. is there easy way to convert a coax connection to an ethernet connect to link these mesh systems?

They make MOCA adapters for this very thing, but I honestly have no experience with them. I imagine that you could use some MOCA adapters to convert that coax line into Ethernet for the purposes of connecting a router up there, but I'm not sure how well that would work out. Keep in mind that you don't need an ethernet backbone to connect these nodes - that's just the best way to do it. You can connect one of the nodes wirelessly in between your bedroom and the current router so that it can repeat the signal.

I think of tif every time YoutubeTV tries to upsell me 4k. What I'm seeing most often is they'll record a sporting event in 4k and then put a padlock on it until I upgrade. The HD version is still available though so I just scroll right past it.

reading between the lines it seems the recommendation would be to try to see how the signal strength is just as a repeater and then see if there's a MOCA improvement if it's not where we need it to be

this router took my internet speed from 67.01Mbps to 388.35Mbps. Didn't help my coverage so will likely go the mesh route but my speeds are much better

I'm being forced to ask this....

Is it possible to watch live pens games with a jail broke (jailbreaked?) Fire Stick?

It’s probably easiest to find a stream (many sites online), and then cast it to your Fire stick. I’ve used the Video & TV Cast iOS apps for a while now and have had good success.
