I was 100% expecting this sentence to end with "around the trees on my property with bells tied to them".

Aren't you building a house in the middle of the woods far away from captivity?

My son is asking for a bluetooth headset for Christmas. Basically, earphones and a mike for some games he plays online.

Any suggestions?
Man, I hate being the last post on a page.

Any gamers that can make a recommendation?

IMO, a wireless headset is not a good idea if he is going to be playing online shooters or anything like that. The short delay could be the difference between life and death in one of those games. I have the same opinion on wireless mice/keyboards.

Thanks. I really have no idea about this as I missed the modern gaming era by a couple of years. #Atari2600forever

Astro headsets are generally considered top of the line. The Astro A50 will not have any of the lag that shaf describes, but you'll be paying around $300.

For that price range, you could get a wireless Turtle Beach headset. I have only owned their wired headsets, which worked well for what my needs were. I would check some reviews first, as I wouldn't be surprised if the bluetooth connection isn't great or they have a delay.

I may just go with wired headset options.

Turtle Beach is solid, especially if you're looking around $100. Astro is pro quality, while Turtle Beach is merely good. I have the XO One set for Xbox and have never had any issues with it. It's old but I'd recommend it. And it's on clearance! https://www.bestbuy.com/site/turtle-bea ... Id=8560025

The write up for this is all about Xbox One. Can he just as easily plug this into his laptop headphone jack? It looks like it.

I second the Turtle Beach route. I have a pair of the lower end headsets and it works great. Here is what I have https://www.target.com/p/turtle-beach-r ... lsrc=aw.ds

Both are fake mesh network devices. What has you interested in them? If you’re looking for general suggestions on WiFi, can you describe the location (size, floors, etc.)?

We have a pretty chopped up floor plan. 1200 sq ft downstairs, five rooms. Router is in the back of the house, so every other room is WiFi. Only wired device is my desktop, in the same room as the modem & router.

I have a regular Fire Stick on one TV and love it.

Looking to get 1 or 2 more tomorrow. (Today)

Do I need Echo/Alexa for the voice remote Stick to work properly?

You don't need an Echo, no. The voice remote for the Fire TV's uses Alexa technology. It's the same Alexa that's in all Echo's, the iOS Fire TV app, etc.
