Is the Disney+ app available to download/pre-stage? I have to help my friend set up his Roku.

For those interested, Apple TV 4k is $90 at AT&T right now: https://www.att.com/buy/accessories/str ... black.html
Are they giving away 1 year free streaming with purchases yet?
Verizon is doing a year of Disney plus for free (not sure of the details)
Oh I'm already locked in for D+ with the D23 deal. Apple was supposedly giving 1 year AppleTV+ with purchases of the Apple TV hardware.

Damn would be nice if Fios was included in that. Apparently if you already signed up for the 3 year deal, you can get the 1 year free then your three years would kick in.

Some initial thoughts on my Vizio M437-G0 (M-Series Quantum):

Pros:
  • Terrific bang for your buck, though the 50" model is an even better deal, IMO
  • Picture quality is very good, with a lot of fine tuning capability
  • Netflix, Amazon Prime, and YouTube apps all perform well in the OS
  • Very good black uniformity
  • Integrates with damn near everything - Alexa, Apple Play, HomeKit, Google Home, etc.
  • Quick start up option
  • WatchFree is actually pretty neat (over 100 channels of free TV and movies using their app in the TV)
Cons:
  • The remote is borderline trash
  • Vizio's smart app is a little clunky; definitely not as smooth as Sony's
  • Minor light bleed on the sides of the screen, which is somewhat common if going by the forums. This can be minimized with a few tweaks, but still not a huge deal
  • Limited customization in the smart app; you can only rearrange app tiles
This is definitely at the top of the budget tier, IMO, even though it's technically not budget-class hardware. That said, if I were looking to replace a large TV in a living room or something, I would not be going with this series, and possibly brand. Sony has my business in that area now. This set replaced my old Samsung UN40FH6030F, which was a 1080p 3D set. It's a direct-lit set, so kinda in between edge lit and FALD, but black uniformity was average at best on it.

Is it just me or is the AMC streaming app a giant pile? I got 1.21 jigawatts on internet pouring through the house and this thing can't play Predator for more than 3 minutes without the picture looking like some early 90s skin-o-vision channel?

Honestly, most of the free-with-cable-subscription streaming apps are garbage.

Supposedly not until the 12th, but we’ll see if it gets released early.

That seems like a terrible plan. So everybody is going to be downloading and signing in at once? Neat.

My fiancé wants, no check that, she NEEDS to see seasons 1-3 of The Great British Baking Show. They aren't on Netflix. My usual torrent sites haven't come through, except for very low quality compressed mp4s. Any idea where I can get these?

Actually just heard a discussion about this on the radio not too long ago. Not sure where you can torrent them, but PBS actually has the US broadcast rights to the show and has done a sub-licensing agreement with Netflix to allow streaming. However, they decided not to air those first seasons themselves, but for whatever reason did not include them in the Netflix license. Confusing things even more, they have aired the seasons out-of-order; I forget the exact way they've done it, but actual BBC season 4, for example, was aired via broadcast in the US as PBS season 1, etc. So it might be tricky to figure out when they get around to airing that content here.

Yeah no kidding, man. It took way more research than it should have to figure out which seasons are actually on Netflix because of that. The best I can tell, though, is that Netflix is only missing the actual seasons 1-3. I found them but they're 640x360 so they look horrible on TV.

I watched the Noel seasons first, then have been randomly picking prior seasons. It's not the best idea if you then pick random holiday specials because you'll have seasons ruined with who won.

Did you get the welcome to Disney+ email? If so, you're good to go. You'll just login using your Disney credentials (same as D23, the Disney website, WDW, etc.) when the app is available.
