Yeah, I was sent a note saying I was getting faster internet soon. It's the only option where I live so, yippee, I guess.
Same.

It's actually been surprisingly good. I never thought the speed was too slow. My only issue with it is on Tuesdays at 11:20am every week the internet would drop out and I'd have to reboot the router. Which sucked because for a while I had a standing video call on Tuesdays at 11:00am. Not sure if it was a glitch with DHCP release or what. I did a manual reboot a few hours earlier and it hasn't been an issue since.

I think Comcast is fine for the vast majority of people. I prefer Fios obviously and am glad we have it, but for 95% of the population they don't even have a clue what a good download/upload speed is. As long as their stuff streams and internet works they don't care.

I'm also interested to see if those of you on Comcast actually see those posted speeds. The few I know on it do not, including my parents.

Just doing the real quick Google speed test:

74.8 Mbps download
11.4 Mbps upload
Latency: 12 ms
Server: Washington
Your Internet connection is very fast.
Your Internet connection should be able to handle multiple devices streaming HD videos, video conferencing, and gaming at the same time.

Now, that's from my desktop with probably 10-15 devices connected to the same wifi.

According to Xfinity's speed test I'm getting 658.1mpbs.
According to ookla I'm getting 256.3mbps.
According to fast.com I'm getting 510mbps.

This is on a desktop with an ethernet connection.

Edit: google says I'm at 679.5mbps.

What plan are you on? I assumed you'd have sprung for a much faster one...

I get consistent results across Verizon/Google/Ookla, personally.

So dodint is seeing what the people I know see. I'm on a gigabit plan with FiOS (up and down), and all three sites are showing around 950/950.

Maybe because I'm not a PC gamer anymore I don't really notice not having the fastest internet. My streaming services do not buffer, my video calls at work are smooth, my files back up in a reasonable amount of time. I'm not seeding torrents over here. It's fine.

FIOS was tits when I lived in Allison Park and I'd love to have it here. But I'm in the sticks, I don't even have city water/sewage.

I just tested my phone and I'm getting 630mbps download via Wifi. I'm two rooms away from the router.

I don't really have anything hardwired in my house at all other than the line that comes from Fios box outside into my router.

My PS4 is hardwired to ethernet. It might be the only thing. I could run a speedtest on that and maybe get better numbers. Probably not by much, though.

All of my important stuff is wired, but I have a silly amount of smart devices that are on wifi.

Sorta same. The 4Slim in the living room and the 4Pro in my office are the only wired devices in the house since I abandoned my desktop PC. They are 330+ down 9 up on whatever speed test PlayStation uses. The WiFi devices are 93 down 23 up using Google. We currently pay for a 400 mbps pipe (because gig service isn't available in our service area yet), so as far as I'm concerned that's as advertised for us on Spectrum.

Went ahead and dropped my Netflix down to the standard plan. I don't care enough about 4k/HDR and I hope dropping my plan down the day they sent me several notices about the price increase sends them a message.

They sent a vague email about why they are increasing prices:
We hope you’re enjoying everything Netflix has to offer. We’re updating our prices to bring you more great entertainment. Your monthly price will change to $19.99 on April 13, 2022.

This update will allow us to deliver even more value for your membership — with stories that lift you up, move you or simply make your day a little better.

Thank you for choosing Netflix — we hope you stay with us for years to come. We look forward to showing you what we have in store.
The Netflix team
Sounds like they need more money from me to pay for their mostly awful original content choices. No thanks.

Hopefully they just add a "Discovery Collection" to HBO Max rather than create a whole new app. Also I'm assuming I won't get free HBO Max with my ATT plan now.

Looks like they are just trialing it in a few countries. I doubt it sticks, but it's a bad idea.

Yeah, it's just a trial but they've been wanting to crack down on password sharing for a long time now. I wouldn't be surprised to see it roll out widely. Charging more for additional screens should be the solution but they of course want more money instead. They're already raising prices, they already have that higher tier for more screens, AND they are one of the few services that charges extra for 4k content.

Good luck with that. I’ll purposely torrent all of their **** then. If you pay for the highest package, who gives a **** where the TV is located?

Who is online
