I’ve been on the directvnow DVR beta for several months, and they finally added a option to record new episodes or all episodes. I’ll give it a try now instead of watching on demand or through network apps.

not sure if I should put this in here or cellphone thread as I know there is a few of you with the google pixel. Has anyone had any experience with the Google ear buds? https://store.google.com/us/product/goo ... s?hl=en-US
I like the idea of using the google assistant and the language translator is pretty awesome (not that I see myself using it), sound quality reviews is pretty average from what I can tell. Without my phone having a headphone jack, I haven't been down this path before...

I didn't get those, I went with Anker ear buds. That's very Star Trek/Universal Translator kind of territory, which is kinda neat.

Speaking of earbuds, the more I see people wearing Apple's new BT earbuds, the more ridiculous they look.

Are they designed to have the little antenna at a 45 degree angle or do I only see d-bags wearing them?

8 year old TV has decided to randomly shut off on occasion. Short of a blessing from @Freddy Rumsen, her days seem to be numbered.
Best bet for $500?

Both would do nicely.

NHL TV sent me an email asking me to come back to their service a few weeks ago (I stopped the service after last year). They offered me the rest of the year for $30! Too good of a deal to pass up. I also signed up to try Sling and got a free Roku in the process. NHL TV has gotten a LOT better in the last year. The new app lets me start from the beginning whenever I want to start watching. I can fast forward, rewind, etc. The picture quality is much better as well and with the Roku I haven't had any issues with buffering. Needless to say I've been tickled being able to watch the Pens again.

Now that the 65" came out for that price, it makes me feel a little guilty paying 2.5 times that for a Sony. Don't get me wrong, it's a great TV, but damn, that is some price for all those bells and whistles. Good reviews too.Which would be this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MYGISTOI'd take a look at the TCL Roku tvs as well. Both would do nicely.

You can't look back, because it'll bite you every time in the world of technology. I'm a Samsung guy, and will likely never switch, but it's nice to see other companies stepping up.Now that the 65" came out for that price, it makes me feel a little guilty paying 2.5 times that for a Sony. Yep absolutely. I try to get 10 years out of a TV and have been a Samsung guy as well, but made the switch to Sony after reading about the 900e. Besides not having Dolby Vision (meh?), I'm simply amazed at the quality, but it's crazy when you see some of the these sub $1000 tvs hitting or surpassing the benchmarks on your tv that you paid much more for!You can't look back, because it'll bite you every time in the world of technology. I shoot for the 5-6 year range, if only to upgrade during big technology swings. My current Samsungs are all 1080p sets, which is fine by me given that there's no 4k content on FiOS yet. The big issue I have with my 65" set is that if I upgrade, I've got no place to put the old set. No change my wife lets me put that beast in our bedroom.

Just got rid of my sharp 46" LCD from 2005. We paid over $2300 for that thing. Circuit City closed shortly after we got it. lol.

I don't raise the dead, only Creflo Dollar can bless you with you a new tv, if you send $500 to his new jet fund.8 year old TV has decided to randomly shut off on occasion. Short of a blessing from @Freddy Rumsen, her days seem to be numbered.
