I personally don't care about the interface or smart features of any of these sets; I will likely use none of them, just as I have my own Samsung. As for the 75" Vizios, thanks, I signed up for the notifications on their release. If they're sub-$3k, I might be in business. I can get the Sony for $2500 right now, so the Vizio would really have to blow it out of the water for more money.

Disney is taking over full control of Hulu.

The majority owner of Hulu said Tuesday morning that it has entered into an agreement with Comcast that will allow it to be the controlling shareholder of the streaming service. As part of the agreement, Comcast can require Disney to buy NBCUniversal's interest in Hulu as early as January 2024.

Disney has guaranteed a sale price that would value Hulu at no less than $27.5 billion. That mans NBCU's take would be worth at least $9 billion.

So Comcast will sell its stake in Hulu in the next five years. NBCU has an option to end its streaming license with Hulu in three years. In the meantime, NBCU can start its own streaming service. Hulu will eventually become the more "adult" oriented content of Disney while Disney+ will be family friendly. Sounds like a pretty good deal for both Comcast and Disney and a horrible deal for consumers, who will now have to subscribe to yet another streaming service if they want to continue to get NBCU content.

Like I said earlier in this thread or the Colossal TV thread I can't remember it is going to eventually get to the point where they're going to be so many streaming services that it's going to cost more per month than the current system.

I already am signed up for Netflix, ESPN+, and Amazon Prime. Will get Disney+ for Star Wars.

That's ~$50 right there a month.

I think that's a false argument though. The cable model is to bundle a bunch of crap you don't want with a few stuff you do want. This tier model subsidized trash content by bundling it with essential selections and people got tired of it. The streaming model is to buy in at a really low price point for a single 'channel' of delivery. The true a la carte option we wanted; single channel selections from one distributor, never materialized. The closest we have is direct content selection via piracy.

But Prime is something that has other value to add. In fact, I'd say the video component of Prime is the added value. We do so much shopping on Amazon, and I do a fair share of the grocery shopping at Whole Foods, that the savings there pay for the annual sub in a couple months. The video stuff is icing on the cake.

But I do take your broader point, and generally agree. We have Vue for TV, then Netflix and Hulu for archive streaming, plus Google Play Video, and the aforementioned Prime. But substitute out Vue for the DirecTV subscription we used to have, and we're still coming out ahead.

Oh yeah, Prime pays for itself. The music unlimited is worth it as well.

YouTube TV, Netflix (split cost for YT and Netflix between two families), also amazon prime, and we will add Disney+ when it launches.

I'd still be curious to poll 5AF to see how much everyone's paying for internet, TV, etc.

We pay $65 for Spectrum internet only (100mb down/10mbps up). We were doing the $20 pick ten stations plus local streaming deal from Spectrum, but canceled it because of bad service (channels missing, app not loading) back in February...but we still have access to all of those picks (for free).

Too much.

I'd like to dump Xfinity, but until ATT Sports Pittsburgh has a streaming app I'm stuck.

Fios is in my building now, and offering a 79.99 deal for 2 years. I may look into that.

I've had FiOS since buying my house, and absolutely love it. Crazy fast, stable internet and video, and my bill has gone up by $10 over the course of 7 years. The only thing that Comcast has over it is the STB guide, though Xfinity's new guide is fugly, so that bridge is being gapped. Fortunately, I'm 100% TiVo, so it's not a concern for me.

I have Fios and they have been rock solid and have been able to chat with them whenever I want a new deal or to change something and not effect my billing much if at all. They also now have voice cable boxes like Xfinity does if that is your thing. I upgraded to those and got them to waive the fee to swap boxes. I have one on my porch now that connects via wifi and gives me the same options as my boxes that are connected via coax without running an actual coax line out to the porch. Fios has been good to me and I can't recommend them enough.

I'm around $270 for Xfinity internet, phone, and TV.

JFC. I pay $160/month for FiOS Extreme HD (2nd highest tier) - which includes CableCards for all of my TiVos, gigabit internet, and unlimited VOIP.

Yeah, it sucks. They're the only option for me as I have too many trees on my property to get a signal for Dish/DirecTV and FiOS is probably years away from coming to the sticks in PA.

So AT&T = WarnerMedia which is HBO, Turner, and Warner Bros. Will the new AT&T service replace HBO Go? Because it better **** not. The Warner Bros TV library is pretty impressive including Friends and Seinfeld but that's not going to draw me to yet another streaming sub.

I'd say roughly $215 for xfinity tv, internet, phone, prime, prime music, netflix, sirius, criterion channel, and sirius

$150 of that is xfinity tv, internet, and phone

$59.99 Fios 100/100
$58.85 for directvnow
$118.84 total for internet and TV
Directvnow includes HBO in that price.

I didn't include Prime because it's so much more than streaming media.
