It's the Goddamn Balrog that dragged Gandalf into the abyss as he said, "Fly you fools!"

I want to give a shoutout to @AuthorTony for all of the carved pumpkins in front of his house. Not sure if he wants to share the picture here, but I was impressed with the effort. We carved two half-assed pumpkins and I was already getting annoyed, can't imagine doing 30 of them.

Thanks, shad! Two of us carved 40, 20 per day for 2 days. But they're all simple, no patterns this year. The worst part is gutting them and I did all 40 myself.

Ha. I know I'm nuts. I own it.

Lighting 40 pumpkins a night with those ****ing grill lighters with the safety switch is almost worse than carving all of them in the first place.

My wife bakes them every year. This year, she added Worcestershire sauce and a little liquid smoke, and they were damn good.

We did two batches. One with garlic salt and one with old bay.

Old bay sounds like a good idea. I’ll give that a try next season.

The only time I tried making them they were terrible. Think I overcooked them.

I live by the woods. But actually, the last few years farmers have taken them to feed their chicken/livestock.

I threw away 2 full-sized kitchen trash bags full of pumpkin "guts." If anyone wants the seeds next year, you're welcome to them.

Maybe you should boil them next year.

Probably baked them too high. We bake ours at around 300°, and I want to say 35-40 minutes, checking near the end.

I love the seeds, but they do strange things through my digestive system.

AuthorTony... that picture is awesome. Good job.

That "strange thing" is probably destroying the wall of your intestines because you're eating something sharp with limited ability to break it down further...eat enough seeds at one time and you'll be shoving a pen up your balloon knot to dislodge a week's worth...

I don't want to say just yet, but I do have a good throwback idea. I wait until the week before Halloween to actually buy and carve pumpkins.

I just drew out my design. Lots of thin lines that could prove difficult, but I'm still going to give it a shot. I don't expect many of the kids to recognize it, but all of the parents should. The good ones, at least.
