There’s at Least One Frustrated Game of Thrones Fan on the Ninth Circuit
http://loweringthebar.net/2019/07/got-n ... rcuit.html

From the decision in Banks v. Northern Trust Corp., No. 17-56025, 2019 WL 2896373 (9th Cir. July 5, 2019):
Northern would like us to read Dabit without considering its clarification in Troice. But we will not render Troice meaningless the way that Game of Thrones rendered the entire Night King storyline meaningless in its final season.

Game of Thrones Season 8 was nominated for 32 Emmys, the most ever.
While most fans on Twitter agree with nominations for stars Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth), others couldn't wrap their heads around the nods to showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.

Nominated for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series for Season 8, episode 6 "The Iron Throne," the GoT fandom quickly reacted on Twitter.
I mean...that is objectively one of the worst written finales ever. Does anyone take the Emmys seriously?

Further proofs that the Emmys are a cumulative award rather than specific to the season.

Hold your dragons, Game of Thrones fans, another prequel of the hugely popular fantasy series is eyeing a green light. I’ve learned that HBO is close to giving a pilot order to a GoT prequel from author and GoT co-executive producer George R.R. Martin and Colony co-creator/exec producer Ryan Condal, which is set 300 years before the events in Game of Thrones and tracks the beginning of the end for House Targaryen. The network declined comment.

Created by Martin and Condal and written by Condal, I hear the project is based on the Fire & Blood book by Martin and has been in the works at HBO since last fall.

According to sources, the Condal/Martin project is not a sixth GoT prequel. I hear it represents a brand new take on a world originally tackled by Bryan Cogman in one of the five GoT prequel scripts commissioned by HBO in 2017. Former GoT co-executive producer Cogman confirmed in April that his prequel idea was not going forward.
Fire & Blood starts off with Aegon the Conqueror, creator of the Iron Throne, and goes on to recount the generations of Targaryens who fought to hold the throne, all the way up to the civil war, known as the Dance of the Dragons, that nearly tore their dynasty apart. The war will be a significant part of the TV adaptation, I hear.

Wait.... What's happening? How many different spin-offs are going on? This feels desperate.

i don't think i'll even read the books at this point, if they ever come out. my interest in spin offs and prequels was an 8 out of 10 a year ago. Now it's about a 1.5

Yeah, my interest in the GoT universe has waned considerably since the finale.

Variety reporting that they're not moving forward with the Targaryens prequel either, though that is yet to be confirmed.

Wonder if Season 8 basically destroyed the franchise.

I wonder if it’s been shelved the HBO Max service launch? HBO hasn’t officially confirmed the cancellation.

That would be funny if HBO just rebooted GoT. You know what, people would probably watch too

I have no interest in this show or its source material, but that level of rank incompetence is unsurprising given the fan reactions.

It's not uncommon in Hollywood for someone to accidentally create a great film. It is very much uncommon for utter nitwits to be given the reigns for a multi-year juggernaut and to not fall flat on their faces until they were off the edge of the map. To the extent that show was any good at all is extraordinary, in that context, and it speaks incredibly highly of literally every other human being involved in the production.

I may be wrong on this, but I thought the show was pretty highly regarded up until pretty much the last season/finale?

The last two seasons were garbage but the final season was an out and out dumpster fire.

Even S7 was pretty well received, but **** just went off the rails in S8. After S6 they could have easily got 30-40 more hours out of the show. When those two jabronis went to HBO and said they only wanted to do 13 episodes over the last two seasons HBO should have told them to **** off and hired someone else to finish it out.

Season seven was off the rails, those final two seasons are one in the same to me in terms of completely changing the tempo and quality of the show.

Agreed. Much of the negativity with S7 started after the season already aired. I would be fine with HBO deciding to give those a do-ove.

Season 7 was when the pacing/tempo went sideways and everything shifted into fast-forward. Season 8 was ore of the same, with awful writing, plotting, and character arcs added on for effect.
