A friend just shared a clip from a while ago with Gwendolyn Christie and..... Jaime?.... being interviewed about how they think it will all end, and she predicted who would be king. And before she even finished the sentence the other cast guy was like, "No, that doesn't make any sense." lol

We are cleaning up the room our daughter will be moving into and I found both Clash of Kings and Dance of Dragons. Just flipping through the pages I got the itch to read it again. The horrible way the show ended has made me jones for book content even more.

Good interview with Battlestar Galactica reboot show runner Ronald D. Moore on what it’s like to write a finale that everyone hates:

https://slate.com/culture/2019/05/game- ... rview.html
Q: Is there something about genre fandom in particular that nourishes those extreme reactions? One of the first pieces that came up when I searched for online reactions was a blog post calling Battlestar’s finale “the worst ending in the history of on-screen science fiction.” Which is almost a compliment.

A: We’re No. 1! Yeah, I don’t know what it is about genre. You could say that genre fandom is the biggest fandom, and maybe that’s the root of a lot of it. I’m not sure what the fandom is for Law and Order or NCIS. I’m sure there is one, but for genre it’s definitely something people care about so passionately, and it’s very personal. You go to conventions, or you go to fan gatherings, and people really love these characters from all these shows. And they take it very personally, they see themselves in it. They have their fantasies, their wish-fulfillments wrapped up in it, and when it goes sideways for them, and it goes to places that upset them, they take it very, very personally, and they get very passionate about it.

God what a mess that finale was. Though I think they were rushed by SyFy to finish it. There was even a possibility of the show ending mid season four due to the writers strike. I also remember GRRM shitting all over the ending on his blog.

This is giving the show way too much credit but I wonder if we’re supposed to be left suspicious of Bran. There’s a ton of evidence that he’s the puppet master behind a metric ton of death and misery. But there really wasn’t enough time to cover a heel turn, and I guess ending the series with an ambiguous menacing closeup of him would have just made things worse.

Yes, left hashed out I think that could have been a lot more interesting. But instead, they made it out to be this "aw shucks" feel-good, laugh track sequence of events. "Why do you think I came all this way?!" LOL. So stupid. Everything stupid.

Even Arya got saddled with the line of "I know a killer when I see one" regarding Dany.

don't waste your time. Sure the first 3 books were good, but the 4th was bad and the 5th was unreadable. The good books were written 20-30 years ago. The bad ones came more recent. Do you see a pattern? If he actually ends the series, there is a realistic chance that the majority of the books are going to be on the wrong end of good reading quality. Go read Naomi Noviks Temaire series or Brandon Sandersons Stormlight Archive series

Jon Snow vs Greyworm trial by combat. We were cheated.

Shoutout to the put that is reddit for that idea.

Also screw Tommin for outlawing trail by combat.

The ending could have made even less sense. Apparently the original plan was to have Jorah survive and be sent to the Wall with Jon, but they ditched that idea when they realized it didn't make sense. https://winteriscoming.net/2019/05/23/r ... -season-8/

It seems the only reason Jon was sent to the Wall was so that they could have the ending of the series mirror the beginning

I'm late to the party, but I just discovered the Pitch Meeting videos on Screen Rant like three days ago and I've been binge watching the everloving crap out of them.

"You can have more episodes if you need them."

"Nah."

The Arya one is definitely real, not so sure on the second. From the random pics I've seen on reddit and elsewhere, Maisie seems like quite the....partier.

The making of season 8 documentary is worth watching, particularly for the table read of the season. Kit Harington hadn’t read the climatic scene between he and Dany.

I think that credit scene was supposed to be funny but I found it pretty depressing.
