Sophie Turner doesn’t need a sugar daddy. She was bringing home at least 175k per episode toward the end of the run. Plus all the licensing and merchandise royalties. She’s set without any Jonas.

If anything, I think it has driven home just how devastating the final season (and especially the final episode) of GoT was.

It looks ok I guess? Nothing really stands out. I mean I'll give it a shot, but nothing in that trailer screams must watch to me.

Production-wise it looks to be on another level than most shows. I don't know if it'll be any good but that's a great teaser. Having GOT in August and LOTR in September is going to be a lot of fun.

There are so many shows these days -- with most new dramas, I'll just wait until the run is over now before I start them. I'll have plenty of content to catch up on in the meantime. Long-running shows like Dexter and particularly GOT broke me in that respect.

In the Ulster Museum in Belfast there’s an 80 meter long tapestry depicting all the major scenes from the entirety of the show

It is cool but also a sad reminder of how comically the show ended. Bran might have been the worst choice for a king

See compared to when GOT came out I think most shows have high quality production these days. It looks cool and all, but I don't think its really above any other shows that get a ton of money pumped into them.

I'll still watch it, but there is so much content these days, that I may wait to see how it gets reviewed to give it shot.

HBO is marathoning a lot of GOT episodes and since I ain’t working I got caught up watching them. Man I miss this universe being interesting in good. Still such a travesty how it ended as the first four seasons are near perfection

Based on how GOT ended I don’t have much hope for the new series but there’s definitely a part of me that wants it to be good. I just don’t know how they can recreate the magic of the first few seasons

ugh, just watched the episode where Joffrey dies. the entire episode is honestly perfect. The writing, the acting, the build up, etc. it’s impossible that a show this good tuned into complete garbage in only a couple more seasons

I'd argue that everything up until season 7 is pretty damn great. And even in those last 2 seasons there are some great moments. I've always said that you could keep the same exact plot but give it another 2-3 seasons to play out and it's infinitely better. The issue with 7 & 8 are the speed at which things happen, so much of it feels unearned. Yes, even King Bran the Broken

Season 5 is pretty damn good, Season 6 has its moments. The last season is pretty awful. I can't remember what happened in season 7 honestly, the last two seasons were a big mess.

With that said the first 4 seasons are on a level above IMO.

Season 6 has the whole Light of the Seven moment with Cersei blowing up the Sept of Baelor. That sequence alone sets season 6 apart from 7 & 8.

yeah. To me 1-4 are among the greatest seasons of tv ever peaking in season 4 (I miss Robb and Catelyn but Oberyn is my favorite character in the entire show)

5 is good but you can start seeing the flaws in the writing. 6 is ok and then 7 and 8 are just bad

Agreed. Bran still wouldn't be a popular choice, people who named their daughters Khaleesi would still be irked by Dany going nuts, but give it 2 to 3 seasons to play out and have winter and White Walker issues last more than an hour long episode and everyone would have been infinitely happier and the IP wouldn't be on life support.

Arya killing the Night King was the point of no return in terms of it being bad for me. Especially how she did it with her ninja teleportation. It didn’t work for me from a plot perspective in any way

Dany’s downward spiral was a great way to go but like y’all said, just rushed and the payoff was cheap

It really is a shame that HBO let D+D get away with racing to the finish line. There is some really dumb **** in the last seasons, but a lot of stuff could be fixed if it were properly fleshed out rather than speeding from plot point to plot point.

It was weird seeing something so huge and popular basically turn into no one giving a **** about it. That is how bad that last season was and how much it hurt the IP. All they had to do was not rush it, and stick the landing...instead they fubared it beyond beliefe.

There are a ton of people who still give a **** about it. I think the internet (specifically Reddit) makes the backlash seem much louder than it actually was/is. It's still one of the most watched shows on HBO Max. The two House of Dragon trailers are the 4th and 5th most watched videos on HBO Max's YouTube with 17m views each (and the latest trailer was just released 2 weeks ago). The hype is real and HBO would not greenlight so many damn spin-offs if the demand wasn't there.

when I read that they weren’t really putting their heart into the final seasons because they were more preoccupied with other projects was infuriating. like “f*ckers, either finish what you started or hand it off to someone who cares”
