HBO is running a season per day this week and today is Season 3. Just saw the Red Wedding episode again.

Holy ****, that is a bit much. Probably the most shocking episode even though I read the books.

I read the Red Wedding in bed and ended up pacing for hours afterward. The show was done almost as well, and that's saying something.

Tbh, the Red Wedding had more of an impact on me on the show than it did in the books because they found a way to make it worse with the baby stab...

I was kinda suspicious of Robb's prospects throughout the books since he was never a POV character. It was **** up, sure, but wasnt as much of a gut punch since I kinda figured something was fishy.

The departure from the book to add the baby stab is what got me most.

That and Princess Shireen...

Although according to D+D, that was one of the "holy ****" moments when GRRM gave them the skeleton plot of the rest of the story, so we may yet see that in the next book... IF it ever happens. ;)

Agreed. As bad as the Red Wedding was in the books, the show made it 10x worse IMO. At least in the books, Robb's betrothed was spared. The show version made Talisa a lot more prominent, and Robb had to watch her and their unborn child die. And then the poor direwolf being shot by 5 crossbows outside. I won't be rewatching that episode.

There was a very brief snippet of a trailer as a part of HBO's programming advertising, that showed Sansa meeting Daenerys and saying "Winterfell is yours, your grace". It appears the North will be bending the knee to the Targaryens.

She didn't seem particularly thrilled about it either.

She wasn't thrilled when she got the note from Jon about bending the knee. I'm sure there will be tension there.

Hopefully better than the forced tension they created between Sansa and Jon in S6 and Sansa and Arya in S7.

I thought I would want to rewatch the series, but after watching a bit of a couple older episodes, I realized I have no desire to. It's not just with this show...I have so many shows I want to watch and I can't justify spending the equivalent of 1-3 days rewatching episodes where I already know what is going to happen.

I've already rewatched seasons 1-4 several times... Up through S5 I always would re-watch the earlier seasons before the new one started, but at this point its a bit much.

Yeah, I used to rewatch the previous seasons shortly before a new one began. But ain't nobody got time for that now. I think I might bang through the last season, as it was relatively short.

My wife has not yet watched. I'll be forcing a rewatch so she can enjoy the shittiness of waiting a week inbetween episodes in the final season.

My wife watched when she insisted we do a watch before season 7 started as she had not seen any of it.. then she says well I slept through most of it, so we have to watch it again *eye roll*

'Game of Thrones' Prequel Casts 8 Rising Stars
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live- ... bo-1174461
The drama is set thousands of years before the events of the HBO flagship. The story chronicles the world's descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. A logline from the network teased the plot without divulging any specifics: "Only one thing is for sure: From the horrifying secrets of Westeros' history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend — it's not the story we think we know."
I feel like I should be excited for this but I'm not.

I'm not as excited as in previous seasons, but I'm sure as **** not excited for Winds of Winter, whenever it actually gets released. I know I will read it, because I'm a completionist/sadist, but I'm in no rush. Because I know he won't ever get to the final book.

I'll need to see some footage before I start to care. Going back to the same well isn't easy.

Long waits are a bad thing. I'm feeling the same way about Season 3 of Stranger Things.

The long wait has definitely affected my excitement.

As for the prequel, until we know wtf it's about and see some footage... Not much to go off of. This is just setting up for a pilot as well so it's pretty far out.

I think finding a balance between familiary and something new can be difficult to achieve. Hoping for the best though.

I agree on the long wait, but you know as soon as that music starts, you'll be all in.
