My daughter started watching this week and she's been weighing in with opinions and questions all week. Last night, she hit the Red Wedding.

She was not pleased.

I wouldn't be surprised if GRRM has finished the series and is just waiting for the show to die down before releasing them. Wait a couple years then release Winds of Winter. People will be jonesing for the story by that point and the show will have worn off.

There's a better chance that Westeros is a real place than there is of the books already being finished.

I'm sure there are people much more in the know than me about his works but other than the fact that they haven't been released why is it so far fetched to think he's written them already? It makes sense from a marketing stand point. Again unless someone knows something I don't.

Even if his publisher were willing to go along with it, I don't see how withholding the book(s) would make any sense from a marketing standpoint. Now, at the height of the GoT hype, would be the time to release it/them.

Yeah, not a snowball's chance in hell he's written them. Dude just seems to be completely content raking in the bucks. He just turned 70 last year.

As a matter of fact, I'll bet GRRM is pissed that this didn't become a phenomenon sooner. Otherwise he could have had a whole lifetime to spend his money like JK Rowling, who is a total weirdo now.

I’ve liked the show all the way through minus a couple subplots here and there. Book 4 and 5 were not that good. I would consider the show an improvement on those books.

Wasn't seasons 1-4 when it was nearly purely just talking heads and incest? Then 5 onward is when actual plot started coming into it?

I guess that says a lot about some folks...

Claiming that seasons 1-4 are uneventful is a bold move, Cotton.

The early seasons didn't have the vast, epic battle scenes, which are also my least favorite part of the series. They're hard to beat plot-wise though. I've enjoyed the latter seasons, but from a writing standpoint, the series has taken a definite downturn, especially in terms of the the characters feeling realistic and being utilized properly.

I think 5 and 6 are fine. It was only when they finall brought all the characters together that the show got worse.

The core plots were fine. Dorne, Bravos, Iron Islands. Not so much.

This is kind of where I'm at. In my head, I was excited for all of the main characters to get together and interact, but now that it's actually happened, I've been disappointed.
