I was bored and surfing back through GOT on demand. Holy sht, it made me realize how long this has been drawn out. Hardhome, which feels like it was in Season 3, was actually the 8th episode of Season 5. The finale of Season 5, in which Stannis finally dies, was in June 2015. Good lord.

I do not watch GOT, but the Dilly Dilly crossover ad during the Superb Owl was very good imo.

Yeah. Wow. 2015. So long ago. Except that as a book reader, I'VE BEEN WAITING EIGHT FU*KING YEARS FOR THE WINDS OF WINTER!

That video, by the way, was posted on YouTube in 2013.

The prequel series begins filming this summer, FWIW.

So we'll probably have the entire Westeros history on film before Fire and Ice actually is completed.

(Also, my Google Chrome didn't have Westeros in its dictionary. Seriously?)

Fiance and I started a re-watch to get ready for the final season about two weeks ago. We severely underestimated our ability to binge this show. We start season 7 tonight. At this pace, we'll need to do another re-watch next month.

We are just now getting to the Red wedding after starting a few weeks ago. We can't keep up that sort of pace. haha. This is my 3rd time through, wife's 2nd. .though the first time she didn't pay much attention.

Watchers on the Wall has the official cast list for the season eight premiere of Game of Thrones, which notably includes Lino Facioli as Robin Arryn (last seen in season six) and Tobias Menzies as Edmure Tully (presumably left to die in the season seven premiere).

prison in Riverrun. They never showed him being released or anything. Last reference was Walder Frey telling Jaime that he put him back in prison.

apparently you can bet on who you think will rule Westeros at the end of the series and Bran has the best odds

still trying to figure that one out...

It seems like this season is just going to be an exercise of bringing all of the characters together for one battle.

It might have just made sense for them to do in movie form as opposed to episodic.

Book-related statement:
Beric Dondarrion re-emergence in that trailer moves chances of Lady Stoneheart appearance from 0.0% to 0.00001%. Do it, damn it.

I don’t necessarily think so.

It’s possible there is some sort of battle at winterfell early on, which doesn’t resolve the war. And then they retreat to somewhere else to regroup and finish it.

6+ hours of film with the hero’s hanging out playing parcheesi before the dead show up makes no sense.

Also, the walkers took so long to get to the wall to accumulate their army. They have it. It’s going to move quickly now.

...or you’re right and this show stinks.

Looks intense (or maybe just due to the opening with Arya). I'm in. Sure as hell the only resolution we're ever going to get to the story.

In other words, Troy, it’s very likely that they are only showing footage from the first episode or 2. Which is typical for any show’s first trailer. You show more abstract things peppered throughout the season. But anything meaty is going to be early on.

I’d picture a dragon dying at winterfell, along with some of the main-ish characters. And of course the other side takes losses too. Maybe they discover an edge that they can use in the next battle that evens out the numbers a bit.

But in no way do I think the culminating event is the battle of winterfell. If it is, that really really blows.

No clue wtf they’re gonna do with Cersei, however.
