I'm on ep 7 season 2 of westworld. It's great. All the negativity since it truly dropped off in quality kept me from watching it until now. But if you're a fan of the first season it still seems worth your time to watch, especially since expectations are lowered. For me it's main issue is rushing plot and confusion though.

I remember when we were excited about just the simplicity of a season in feudal Japan. But so much has happened so far that you never get to settle into a new world. I want more imagery but I'm getting Homeland military intrigue. It's intense and pretty good but I have to say I'm not calculating half of what they say and am following along by actions and the images. Maybe im slow but i bet it's much better on a second viewing. And since i thoroughly enjoyed the first season I'm finding myself still well motivated to watch this once i started. Im hoping there's a third season

I believe the third season is coming soon - Aaron Paul is in it. I haven't watched season 2, and currently don't have HBO so probably won't watch it for a while. I really liked the first season, but heard terrible things about the second season.

Introduced the kids to The Simpsons and started from the beginning. I can't tell you how much fun it's been watching it with them. I was a little jumpy and wanted to go straight to the hits, but listened to the better half and am glad I did. I think I was a little scared off thinking the beginning is a little clunky and the voices and animation are, but the story is still good. I think I can get around Season 9ish and be comfortable with the show still being good, but it's unknown territory for me after that.

My oldest has been watching The Simpsons on Disney+ as well. He loves it, despite the weird aspect ratio (which they will fix eventually).

So, Man in the High Castle's final season is out. I am about halfway through the final episode. Here's my thoughts:
This is one of those shows that had so much potential. Even though the source material isn't great - I think the premise is excellent, but the actual book itself isn't great - they could've made an excellent series out of it.

Parts of it are excellent - some of the acting, the production and set design are stunning - but a lot of it is just mediocre.

I really don't think an American would get as high up as Smith in the Nazi party. Why do all of the principal characters speak English most of the time? Even the historical characters that didn't speak English (Himmler, Eichmann, and a few of the Japanese generals).

Why introduce a new faction in the last season, with more characters?

Looking at the Amazon reviews, these new characters have irritated some more conservative viewers who are giving the show bad reviews and saying they are race baiting and bringing current issues in a show set in the 1960s. I don't see it, but the perpetual outrage machine sees it unfortunately.

All that being said, it is a good season with a few twists. I just wish the show was built out a little better; more depth to the story and characters. Definitely worth watching if you like alt-history or the previous seasons.

I've been rewatching Seinfeld since I got the Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+ bundle and am reminded how great it is. Just funny and fun.

Episode 5 of Watchmen was the best yet. Honestly think it's the best thing on television right now.

Also, the armorers they have working on Man in the High Castle were excellent. Lots of WWII era weapons, plus lots of odd-60s battle rifles, LMGs, and SMGs. One of my complaints about the early seasons was that the Wehrmacht and IJA/N troops were mostly using bolt action Arisaka and K98 rifles...in 1963. They were outdated in 1943, no way they would be used for anything other than ceremonial duties in the 60s. That was amended this season.

Is anyone still watching Mr. Robot? This week's was commercial free and pretty intense diving into Elliott's psyche.

Started watching How To Get Away With Murder over the weekend... I think it'll be a great binge watch, but I wouldn't be able to watch this week to week. The constant back and forth, back and forth with the timeline is okay when you watch a few episodes back to back, but I'd be somewhat lost week to week.

Stumbled upon a Hart to Hart rerun last night. Actually worse than I remembered.

I use a private tracker site. I have a few invites, so DM me if you're interested. It's not free, but uh, cheaper than cable and streaming video purchases.

How much is it, DG? I've never bothered, and only go so far as to encrypt the connection. No VPN, either.

The one I use is $100 a year, but they often have sales on renewals. You can buy in 1, 3, 6, or 12 month increments.

I'm waiting until all of the episodes are out to watch it.
I watched the first episode this season, which was one of the better episodes in a long time. Then I got stuck traveling on two weekends and missed weeks two and three. By that point, it was a matter of trying to catch up. Now that I'm at the point of being behind by at least 5-6 episodes and keep telling myself I'm gonna lose an evening or a weekend and try to play catchup before the finale.

I already know what is gonna happen though: I'll slack off (again) and won't be able to catch up before the finale, but will still want to watch the finale. So I'll get sucked in and watch it without knowing most of the backstory.

Anyone else enjoy watching old Carson clips? There's a treasure trove of stuff on YT. TIL that Paul Anka actually composed the music for Carson's theme, and received about $200k in royalties every year for the duration of the show. Talk about iconic.
