How to Sell Drugs Online is supposed to be good. Haven't seen it, though.

Any good TV shows from Netflix or Prime that I should consider binge watching?

I downloaded Good Omens on a whim, so I'll check that out. Most of the common ones, I've watched, but a lot of the Netflix and Prime originals, I've skipped.
Master of None on Netflix if you missed it a few years ago.

Prime:
Patriot is great. Highly recommend.
Man in the High Castle had a great first season and sort of went downhill from there but still a good watch.

Netflix:
When They See Us is supposed to be amazing but I haven't watch it yet.
I really liked The Haunting of Hill House despite a somewhat less than satisfying conclusion.
Santa Clarita Diet was a ton of fun but unfortunately just got axed.
While they're not Netflix Originals, Netflix has a few of the Ken Burns docs. Can't go wrong there.

I've only watched a handful of Black Mirror episodes, one of which was Hated in the Nation, which I really liked so it always surprises me when people put it near the end of their list. I haven't seen any of this season, but my impression from other people is that they've started to run the "technology gone too far" well dry.
Hated in the Nation had a good concept but failed on the implementation imo. It felt way too much like a cheesy police procedural

That makes sense. I like cheesy police procedurals.

I'm confused by this take - isn't this the whole premise of the show?

Yes? Like I said, I haven't really watched the show, but from people I know who do watch it, their take has been that it's getting redundant and their interest is waning.

Sorry - I didn't mean that at you, I just meant I'm confused by people that think that. To me, that's like saying "Alice is good, but it's starting to be a little too waitress-y."

I think there's a lot of show potential left, but they're getting away from what made it good in the first place. Strong stories, mostly unknown actors. I feel like this season was rushed after Bandersnatch (which I thought was terrific) - and the stories almost feel forced now. Forced shock value and forced unease (Striking Vipers) instead of the slow burn and mindf*ck at the end that worked for them so well before. Just my 2 cents.

I don't think they're running out of ideas, I think the quality of the writing is just going downhill

Is Schitts Creek any good?
Yup. Very funny. Very similar in tone to Christopher Guest films and with a surprising amount of heart. Good stuff

Anyone looking forward to the Superman prequel series Krypton on SyFy?

Saw promos for season 2 which looked interesting, so I DVRd season 1 last week (SyFy aired them to ramp up to S2) and watched it. 10 episodes... they could easily have been rewritten down to about 3 episodes and you wouldn't have missed a thing.

The big "baddies" of season 1 are Brainiac, General Zod, and Doomsday. Brainiac doesn't actually hit the screen until half way through ep9. General Zod doesn't become "General Zod" until the last 3 minutes of ep10. Doomsday roars at the camera as ep10 fades to credits, and that's it.

Hopefully Doomsday makes the start of season 2 actually interesting (something that season 1 kept swinging and missing on) and hopefully Lobo shows up early too.

finally got around to watching the S1 finale of Big Little Lies and while the twist was pretty good, I realized why it took me a year to watch it, I don't like this show very much. I don't think I like any of the characters, I had to ask who everyone is, because they all seem like the same person and the spousal abuse stuff is disturbing and makes me uncomfortable watching a show that tries and makes you want to attach to these people. Wife says the book is waaaay better (surprise)

watched 2 episodes of Schitts Creek and it's the real deal, I laughed a lot and I hope it continues to be this good through 4 seasons.

- I powered through Big Little Lies primarily because I would greatly like to have sex with most (all?) of the actresses in the show, but it took us forever to get through the show, primarily because as you said everyone in the show is so unlikable.

- Schitt's Creek will remain that good, if not better.

I've never seen Schitt's Creek, but the one reservation I have is playing catch up when I'm already 4 seasons behind.

The upcoming season is its last. Wait until it's finished and binge it. It's a quick watch, too.

I was going to just download the shows and transfer them to my TiVo, but **** that noise. I created a profile on my parents' Netflix account and will just leech it that way.
