Unfortunately, I would not recommend “I’ll be Gone in the Dark” to the worthwhile serial killer documentary list. Very complex and fascinating story weighed down by over-focusing on inflating Michelle McNamara‘s “role” in catching the EARONS.

I'm watching Joe Berlinger's new doc on the death of Elisa Lam at the Cecil Hotel. Creepy stuff. @tifosi77 - How far are you from the Cecil? I think you should take one for the team. Spend a night there and tell us about your experiences.

We just finished it. Four hours was too long. Could’ve wrapped it up in 90 minutes.

Yeah, I just finished the second ep and checked to see how much longer it was. I'm halfway in so I'll stick it out, but, ugh.

It's downtown, but I don't think it's called The Cecil any longer. And I'm not sure it's even still a hotel; I seem to remember hearing about it being converted to mixed use or something. The area where the building is located is literally called Skid Row, so it's not really a place you linger if you can help it.

The final five-time champion of "Jeopardy!" while Alex Trebek was still host died unexpectedly last week, according to a statement from his mother.

Brayden Smith, of Las Vegas, was 24 years old when he died on February 5. The family did not release the cause of death.

"We are so grateful that Brayden was able to live out his dream on @jeopardy," Smith's mother, Debbie, tweeted Friday morning.

Smith won $117,798 on the program, with his final appearance taking place in Alex Trebek's final week on the air. The shows were recorded in October and Trebek died of pancreatic cancer November 8.

Been watching all the batman movies on hbo max as they come out. The animated ones. I think we talked about it earlier in this thread.

The only one really left I needed to watch which was batman focused was batman ninja. I didn't think I was was going to like it. I was wrong. It's definitely different but I enjoyed it.

Just finished Fargo season 2.

Is the drop off that bad where I should just stop watching?

I greatly enjoyed The Queens Gambit
enjoyed 3 episodes, then it was like...whaaaaat's going on here.
this gritty story about the trauma of a young genius struggling to free herself from her fate is over. now she's just the most impressive human on the planet, except for this substance abuse thing...which actually doesn't lead to anything bad happening for her. in fact, it's responsible for her success and she only got hungover once!
weird ass narrative.

Agree. I liked season 3. I did not like season 4.

I can agree that the plot point of the self-destructive behavior was poorly developed. Like when she was a kid and like the tranquilizers. I got that she wanted them and she thought it helped her BUT I thought she was addicted because of the home forcing it on kids, not because of a personal demon.

One big thing that IMO would have helped would be either the full addition or deletion of her birth mother. The minor attempt of weaving that in as a potential reason for her proneness to self destruction just didn’t work.

After about a year of resistance I caved to my wife's wishes and we've started watching Downton Abbey. Really enjoying it so far. There's something just so simple and superfluous about the daily lives of the Crawley's that makes it an easy watch, yet Thomas and O'Brien are eminently despicable.

It's a show that I could watch with my wife, but I'm not interested enough where I'd want to make sure I watched them all.

All Creatures Great and Small has a very similar, possibly even simpler, feel to it. The cast is quite small, maybe they shot during COVID or something, but it's enjoyable.

Definitely more simpler, but I gave up after 4 episodes. Same damn thing seemed to happen every episode. I really wanted to like it, but in the end they did a good job of making me care very little about anything happening. Downton was a wonderful show and the movie is pretty great too
