I **** loved the hell out of Dark. So good.
Maybe the best executed show I’ve ever seen.

However...the story choices starting at the end of season 2 we’re disappointing.
The alt world took me out of it. I cared about Earth 1 Mikkel, Martha, Ulrich. Etc. I wanted those characters to find a resolution. Not only did it not happen, they were all erased from existence and in the meantime watered down by a parallel world I don’t care about. I think if you introduce the Mikkel story right away, you need to see it through to the end and not swap it for a multi-verse plot 70% thru the series.
But if you like where the story went, this is like a top 5 all time show.
I totally see where you're coming from, and understand not enjoying that arc. I do agree that if they stuck to the original theme and ended the series before that change, it's definitely higher on my list. That said, I enjoyed the final season enough that it was still a must watch for me. The actors were just so good throughout.

Wtf? I just read that Frazier is getting a revival? Grammar is signed on, but nobody else yet.

“’Frasier’ is one of the most acclaimed comedies in modern television history and truly defines premium storytelling,” said David Stapf, president of CBS Studios. “There has long been a call from fans for its return, and that call is now answered thanks to the amazing Kelsey Grammer reprising his iconic role of Dr. Frasier Crane and a brilliant creative plan from Joe, Chris and Kelsey. We can’t wait to reveal its next chapter on Paramount +.”

Grammer has been trying to get the revived show off the ground for some time. “Frasier” remains one of the most successful sitcoms of all time, having won 37 Emmy Awards over the course of its 11 seasons and 264 episodes on NBC. The series also starred David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, and Peri Gilpin, none of whom are currently attached to the revival. John Mahoney, who played Martin Crane, passed away in 2018.

I know it had a long run but I never saw Frasier as particularly special. Without the novelty of the Cheers origin story it's just the mundane day to day life of a stuffy dadhole. They put even less work into set design than Friends (closer to the effort of the Wings folks) and the cast was above average but forgettable. Better than, say, Becker but not even close to Seinfeld or even Roseanne.

I'd generally agree with you. I did watch and enjoy Frasier, but not like I did Cheers. I'll still check it out once released.

On another note, I started watching The Wire this morning. No cop murdered on episode one, so they're already falling behind Vic Mackey and company.

Yeah, it's better than a lot of stuff out there now and I'd probably take a look. But it's not going to get me to buy Paramount+.

Paramount seems to be giving free month trials all the time. We picked it up in December and haven't paid for it yet, and won't until April. Not too shabby (but we're not going to pay for it when the trials run out).

If only they could combine all of the services under one umbrella and force us to pay for all of them when we really only want a couple.

Nah, this is a much better way to watch TV. Login to a dozen different services to find your content all the while saving little.

Everybody begged for à la carte options forever. We now have à la carte options. Seems like a much better world than cable.

This is good. Ray Donovan is good, if you can get past the horrendous Boston accents.

People wanted a la carte choices, I don't think people wanted a la carte services. I would like to go to a provider and go in and select which channels I want, and pay one price for the lot. I don't want 15 different logins to 15 different apps that I have to switch between instead of just changing channels.

This is the first Paramount+ show that made me actually consider a sub.

I’d argue that the cast was way way above average, and did a ton of heavy lifting for mediocre writing.

It was made for 1990’s old people, not us. If you like seinfeld but feel like you’re not understanding the jokes, have we got a show for you!

Contrary to popular belief, I don't actually do this all the time. But, from the Wiki..........
Frasier received 108 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, with 37 wins—the most received by any comedy series. The series received eight nominations for the award for Outstanding Comedy Series, winning five times from 1994 to 1998
So.... the people who make TV shows certainly thought it was a good TV show.

I challenge you to find someone that said it wasn't good.

It was good. Not good enough to pay money to see an update, though.

Presuming Kid A was deserving (it was not, imo, but perhaps more so that Steely Dan; more egregious imo was that they also beat Eminem that year)...... Jethro Tull beat Metallica for the first Best Metal Performance Grammy. And Shakespeare in Love beat Saving Private Ryan to Best Picture despite not even being the best movie with Queen Elizabeth I in it that year.

Award shows are replete with dopey one-offs like that, and in some of those cases it prompts the governing body in charge of the awards to actually alter their criteria. Much less common are things that win over 100 awards in their respective lane.

Frasier is kind of like BBT. Sprinkle in some big words and the audience pats themselves on the back for watching. Meanwhile the actual storytelling is the same rehashed schlock we've been seeing since I Love Lucy.

They did a 7th season for that stupid Quibi platform. It was renewed for an 8th season, which was picked up by Roku. Wonder if those will even be acknowledged. I imagine like 3 people watched it.
