I've watched a few more, great stuff. My wife does not like at all, she doesn't get Norm. I don't understand that.

Without Remorse and Rainbow Six are about 35 years apart in Tom Clancy terms. Wonder how they are going to try to pull that off.

One of the greater mysteries in life is how a hack like Goldsman gets so much work on so many high profile projects.

I looked up his body of work. A lot of garbage, but there are some really good movies in that list.

I still remember quite vividly the decompression chamber scene in Without Remorse. Yikes.

Not nearly enough when compared to his status and the quality of talent he's been surrounded with.

Goldsman has never written a great film, and more often than not, his work is lazy, uninspired, or just plain bad. Yet time and again, his name turns up on projects, as he cashes his paycheck and puts in the hours to complete yet another derivative offering of slapdash Hollywood product. There’s a name for this kind of writer: a hack—someone who can churn out material that fits a requisite mold with little regard for artistic merit or considerations of quality. There are plenty of hacks capable of doing good work, but Goldsman’s name on a project is practically a guarantee of bloodless moviemaking. His films share a joyless, unimaginative vibe that suggests a film made by someone who doesn’t get much of a charge from making films.

Some of them I don't think merit a re-read - the eco-terrorist one was awful, outside of the way he figured out how to deliver the toxin - but if I still had my hardcover copies of Without Remorse, Sum Of All Fears, Hunt For Red October, Clear And Present Danger, Patriot Games (the best of the movies, imo), and The Cardinal Of The Kremlin, I'd re-read those in a heartbeat.

You're talking about Rainbow Six, which I enjoyed. It was the first book since Without Remorse to not feature Jack Ryan. I've already re-read many of them, up to Bear and the Dragon. I've read a couple after that book, but sort of lost interest.

I still have many of my hard cover copies sitting somewhere. If I reread the books, I'll go audiobooks. Just don't have the time to sit and read 700 page novels right now.

Maniac comes out today on Netflix. Sounds like Netflix has a winner.

I caught the first episode of Norm Macdonald's new show on Netflix with David Spade. Absolutely hilarious.

 I wish he had David Spade on every other episode, because that was outstanding. We just watched the Judge Judy one the other day, and the series is still strong.

I wish they hadn't went from Spade to Barrymore, lost a lot of momentum there.
