Jefferson is great in his spot. Drew carey’s girlfriend’s and her face mutation is extremely distracting
Eh I had the “holy **** that’s HER?!” moment and haven’t thought about it since. I did look up and saw a picture of her around the same age but without all the fillers and she looked great. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Finished Peaky Blinders last night. Must say the ending
with the doctor, I didn't see that coming. Neat spin. Now Tommy can "try out death" like Alfie said.

I started Downton Abbey last night and the first big revelation was that it isn't called Downtown Abbey. Stupid brain.

New Pope much like the Young Pope

Really digging it through almost 3ep.

Both seasons i think would be decent even without Malkovich and Law since the other actors are so good. And it would be fine as a traditional show without the director and the fresh experimental/artistic modern style. But with those things these seasons fit squarely in my second tier of all time favorite tv so far

I've been watching A Spy Among Friends, about Kim Philby and the fallout of having a Soviet mole in the upper echelon of the British intelligence operations. The British good ol' network has epic blind spots, and when the **** hits the fan, they protect their own. Guy Pearce and Damian Lewis are the leads, and are excellent. The creepy SEC compliance guy from Billions plays a creepy counterintelligence CIA guy. Perfect casting.
This was really good, if you're into this sort of thing.

Also, this is intriguing:

Slippin' Jimmy as a mid career college professor at a failing liberal arts college, filled with mediocre students? Is this autobiographical? Great supporting cast too.

Finished the first half of the last season of Better Call Saul
I had no clue I was watching the last episode of the split season, so was greatly surprised by Howard getting capped. It made for a really great moment of TV watching for me. Didn't expect it at all, and was even a little shook up by it. A sign of great writing, because I had hated the Howard character for the entirety of the series, and was completely on Jimmy and Kim's side when they were ruining his reputation.

I think it was announced a while ago, but just saw it, The Simpsons has been renewed for a 35th and 36th season. Jesus.

I'll be honest, it has gotten better the past few seasons. Not close to it's golden years 30 years ago, but much better than it has been.

I'm a handful of episodes into Billions S6 and it hasn't held my interest. I'll probably finish it out of obligation but it has ran out of steam for me.
Swung back around to try and finish this. I have about 5 episodes left, I'm at the part where:
Prince is awarded the Olympic bid
It's still entertaining enough, but this whole arc is pretty flat because I can't find a reason to dislike Prince. So it feels like Rhoades is just chasing a ghost, which is pretty lame given how powerful that character was in the first few seasons. This whole season he's been portrayed as desperate and a bit sad.

Yeah, I'm right there with you on Billions' track. I still like a lot of the other characters, and it will be interesting bringing back Axe.

I think Troy took issue with the writing going downhill regarding the financial stuff. I thought of him when one of the analysts was explaining to the other what a SPAC was.

I know it's exposition but that made me laugh.

The final episode of Pokémon with Ash and Pikachu as the main characters aired. I’m sure none of us have seen an episode in 20+ years but I checked and they did have Ash reunite with Pidgeot. In case anyone was wondering about a plot thread from 1998

Ted Lasso, episode 2
Zava is basically Ibra. That's 100% their inspiration for the character, and nobody will convince me otherwise.

Slow Horses season 2 was very good, if you like spy thrillers. Like with season 1, they show a trailer for the next season, meaning it's been filmed and is well into post-production. No waiting around for renewal or cancellation news like other streamers.
Yeah I thought S1 was good, and having just finished it, S2 was excellent. Only minor quibble:
patting down the Russians and checking the briefcase before they got into the car and not after (and not checking the trunk like they said) was a bit eye-rolly considering how on point most of the other aspects have been. I understand they wanted to add additional tension to the episode, but they kinda sold out the characters in doing so.
Very much looking forward to S3.

Dead to Me season 3 was unabashed emotion porn that was clearly heavily rewritten given Applegate’s real life diagnosis and need to rush to some sort of conclusion. It was uneven and felt totally detached from the previous 2 seasons. Watching a character break down and cry in nearly EVERY scene throughout the last 2 episodes is exhausting and lazy writing. Find a way to convey emotion without blubbering cliche dialogue through tears. It’s a shame because the first season is so much fun and had so much potential.

I loved S1 and S2, but S3 was rough. Big time emotion porn. I love Linda Cardellini so I powered through.
