Isn't The Pacific based off a book written by someone who fought in that theater?

Could be why they didn't flesh out the character(s), if that was their sole source material.

It's based on the memoirs of the two main characters, the bird dude and the dark-haired good looking dude. I'm sure they have names, too, let me check ... Euegen Sledge and Robert Leckie.

Schwimmer did a good job, probably one of the better acting jobs in BoB. Speers is probably #2 in best acted roles. All of the NCOs are military movie cliches

With the Basilone story weaved in as well. That's probably part of the reason it doesn't work as well; it's a collection of different stories instead of BoB and Generation Kill which worked primarily from a single source.

Just wait for episode 2... (or was this in episode 1?)

When his head pops up over that wall I nearly lost it laughing.

I posted that upon the first scene seeing him. Didn't take long to shed that and see him as an dadhole now

If you watch Friends from a modern mindset he's a conniving manipulative dadhole there as well.

I remember a lot of people saying that, but having never really watched Friends and just disliking him, I thought it worked.

I remember at the time Schwimmer was billed as the only big name in the cast. Does he even act any more? Not that he needs to with the syndication fees from Friends...

Schwimmer was also responsible for their massive paydays on Friends:
When the starring cast first signed on, they reportedly agreed to $22,500 per episode. That changed in season two and each cast member made a different amount (which allegedly ranged from $20,000 to $40,000 per episode). By season three the group banded together and asked for equal and higher salaries. However, if it weren’t for David Schwimmer, the negotiations probably would have never happened.

When it came time for season three negotiations, Schwimmer allegedly encouraged his fellow castmates to negotiate together and ask for what they deserved. As a result, each cast member made $75,000 per episode for season three, $85,000 for season four, $100,000 for season five, $125,000 in season six, and $750,000 in seasons seven and eight. By seasons nine and ten, the stars were making $1 million per episode.

He was great as Robert Kardashian in the People vs. O.J. Simpson.

^ forgot about that role.

I meant his role on BoB. He was the only big name actor in that at the time. Now you have Michael Fassbinder, Tom Hardy, Damian Lewis, James McAvoy, Andrew Scott, and a few others emerging as stars of various levels. Pretty cool stuff.

Was just looking through the awards BoB won. Should have won more. Stanley Tucci over Ron Livingston is hard to complain about given Tucci’s quality as an actor, but Franco over Damian Lewis is a joke.

Chappelle asked Netflix to pull his old Chappelle's Show... and they did. Here's why:
