I'm halfway through We Own This City. Really, really good. Aggravating, but well done.

Wait what? This isn’t the full season?Finished ST S4 last night. We binged 2 eps a night and one night with 3. What an improvement over S3. I am counting the days until the rest of the season comes out.

I generally like to binge seasons, but I get the weekly release schedule for some streamers. More discourse for a longer amount of time, everyone on the same page as each episode is released etc.
So I'm watching the newish HBO series Minx, which is a 30 minute-ish comedy about a feminist that gets drawn into making the first male nudie mag in the 1970s. It's a good show, with great performances from Jake Johnson and a few others...but each episode has this horrible, repetitive trope where they show the feminist main character to be naive and clueless about almost everything. Spread out weekly, it's not probably that bad...but watching 2-3 eps in a row is tiresome. And she has a speech impediment or bad dental work that is aggravating on top of her naivete. Petty? Maybe.

I've been listening to norm on YouTube every night for a few months since before he died. I watched the first half of the special and its terrible. Not because I've heard every bit but because he does every bit so much better elsewhere. I'll eventually get through it though in case there's something new and to see the friends commentary. The "dead crowd" youtube stand up is perfectJust watched the Norm Macdonald final special and discussion on Netflix. The special was fantastic. The discussion afterward was... weird. I love Letterman but he really didn't fit in here. He was hung up on there not being an audience and approached this more as a critique of the special rather than just reminiscing about Norm and what makes him great. The others tried but each time they got it going, Letterman knocked it off the rails again. When Sandler and Spade talked about him, you could feel the love and the fact that they knew him on a much more personal level. Chapelle, Conan, and Letterman really seemed to only know him professionally and it showed. Molly Shannon got in about 5 words. It feels weird saying this, but this would've been 100 times better if Letterman wasn't there.

If it has a movie vibe to it, I'm not opposed. There have been many shows that have tried to greenlight a movie after their series was over, but never got to it, mostly because it's tough to get the cast back together. Wouldn't be a bad way to end the show, imo. Also having the last episode be 2hrs and 30 minutes is insane and also dumb IMO.

Psych has gone this route with three movies since the series ended, and the fans want it to continue as long as possible. Or bring back the show entirely. If it has a movie vibe to it, I'm not opposed. Shoresy worked for one season but I gotta think you can’t get a ton of mileage out of **** talking as the central theme.

Hacks season 2 was very good. Only 8 episodes though, and no word on a renewal. It's weird because it's not produced by HBO, and I don't think I've seen too many shows with other production houses' credits before the HBO Max logo comes on. Anyway, it's good.
We Own This City was exceptional. Really an indictment of the "War on Drugs" and its true cost. Unfortunately, I had a significant plot point spoiled just before I watched the sixth (and final) episode. David Simon, as is customary, was attacking trolls on Twitter and I started reading replies/quoted Tweets and found out more than I wanted to know about a character. Kind of a controversial plot point and how it was interpreted by the show, to the point that Simon will have an op-ed or statement about it out soon.
But the whole thing pissed me off, much like Dopesick.
