I still have a hard time believing that the show can be good given how awful the trailer was.

This is exactly what I was afraid of with Chernobyl. Bad science, misrepresentation of how radiation works, and turning nuclear power into the boogeyman because people are too dumb to know how it works.

Ugh...this was my biggest fear about this series...that it would set nuclear power back another 10-15 years because of scientific falsehoods and sensationalism. Crap.

I really don’t think it did that if you watched the details. They specifically said that they took the cheap way out unlike their counterparts in other countries and that’s why the were graphite ends on the rods.

This is how I am with Good Omens. The marketing spots are so **** stupid and they play all the time on AP so I have already shitcanned the prospect of watching it.

I get that with Good Omens. The cast is the reason why I downloaded the first season, so I'm at least going to give it a shot.

Yeah, I think a lot of those comments were from people who hadn't watched the entire series. I took exception to that Forbes article's portrayal of the USSR, because people like Slava Malamud - who grew up in the USSR - said the show got Soviet culture of the time basically correct. It's also not a documentary, so artistic license was taken - and it sounded like Mazin tried to get as much correct as he could using first person accounts. These accounts - from a book called Chernobyl Diaries - could have been incorrect or exaggerated.

I live 10 minutes from a plant older than Chernobyl - it opened in 1971. The amount of testing and safety protocols they use stagger the mind. They have a complete copy of their control room where they constantly train operators, and it takes years to get fully licensed for most of the jobs there. Nuclear power is inherently safe, provides good jobs, and in the case of our local plant, environmentally neutral - no pollution is added because of it.

It’s 15 minutes long and just a bunch of guys shouting “All is well!” over emergency sirens.

They contend that US spies were involved.

It was so good. Easily one of the best series I've seen in a while. Tennant and Sheen are perfect together.

got around to season 5 of Black Mirror. Dreadful, dreadful 3 hours of television. Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too might be the worst episode in television history. Felt like an "edgy" teen movie. Striking Vipers was pretty bad too; only positive about the episode was Pom (who I'm not convinced is a good actress but she's at least very cute)

Smithereens is the only episode that had a semblance of being interesting but it was 20-30 minutes too long. A whole lot of nothing

UPDATED BLACK MIRROR POWER RANKINGS (including Bandersnatch too)

1. 15 Million Merits - s1e2
2. Entire History of You - s1e3
3. White Christmas - special episode
4. San Junipero - s3e4
5. Shut up and Dance - s3e3
6. Arkangel - s4e2
7. White Bear - s2e2
8. Be Right Back - s2e1
9. Bandersnatch - special episode
10. Hang the DJ - s4e4
11. USS Callister - s4e1
12. Smithereens - s5e2
13. Black Museum - s4e6
14. Playtest - s2e2
15. National Anthem - s1e1
16. Metalhead - s4e5
17. Nosedive - s3e1
18. Waldo Moment - s2e3
19. Crocodile - s4e3
20. Striking Vipers - s5e1
21. Hated in the Nation - s3e6
22. Men Against Fire - s3e5
23. Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too - s5e3

Damn. We just watched Striking Vipers and I was hoping the other two were better.

Side note: I was on Xbox last night and asked the squad if they watched it. For some reason they all got real awkward.

I've only watched a handful of Black Mirror episodes, one of which was Hated in the Nation, which I really liked so it always surprises me when people put it near the end of their list. I haven't seen any of this season, but my impression from other people is that they've started to run the "technology gone too far" well dry.

Any good TV shows from Netflix or Prime that I should consider binge watching?

I downloaded Good Omens on a whim, so I'll check that out. Most of the common ones, I've watched, but a lot of the Netflix and Prime originals, I've skipped.

I’d say the Tick, but Amazon just cancelled the show after season 2.
