Yeah I usually side with @dodint on stuff like this, but If I'm paying for 2 streams, or 4 streams or whatever it shouldn't matter where those devices are or who is using them. I'm paying for a pipeline into the service via my account which allows me to add other users.

Maybe not having kids skews my perspective but I always took the simultaneous device streaming to mean in the same household. So I can watch in my living room while the wife watches Hallmark in the bedroom, and the non-existent kids can watch in the game room. It's a way of making the service align with the expectation of the cable system people are leaving behind. There was no expectation that Mom and Dad would have cable at home and Johnny and Susie could have it in their dorm at no additional cost.
I could parse the service agreement that you all signed without reading and it probably details this, but it's tough for people to understand they're not getting what they think is an entitlement.

And it's not any particular poster or group of posters here. There have been tons of articles written about how this is an attack on the consumer, etc. It's not.

Also, isn't a college-aged kid who currently lives at school still considered part of a household? That's how it works on taxes right?
Aside from that, I've already listed ways that this is bogus. Watching at the office during lunch, watching while on vacation, being a fancy-pants and having a cabin or vacation home. All of these are definitely not stealing. In addition to that, paying for multiple devices and password sharing is also definitely not stealing.

If Netflix wants to be more like traditional cable, then this is a solid step in that direction. I'm sure it'll end better for them.

I stand corrected. I thought this was an enforcement of the existing ToS, but it's a change to the ToS. I can better understand the outrage, to a point. The other services I use like YTTV and HBO Max already do the geo-enforcing with subsequent revalidation and I thought Netflix was already doing that.
That said I still maintain my idea of what 'devices' were intended to be and I don't fault Netflix for changing their ToS to reflect that. I'll ease up on the discussion about it though because my use case is simpler than most.

I've never had HBO Max do any sort of geo-enforcing. It may be in the ToS, but they certainly don't enforce it.

I logged in to watch a movie with my Dad at his place and as soon as I went back to my house and logged in it prompted him for the password. He's an 8-minute drive away.
Colossal TV Show thread
It booted him while he was watching or next time he tried to log in he was prompted? I generally have to log in once every couple weeks. And the amount of people who use my HBO... whew. You thought people were stealing Netflix. HBO must think I live in four states simultaneously. Plus I'll use it at the office, on my phone, etc. But having to re-enter a log-in isn't going to prevent password sharing. It's barely a minor inconvenience. I thought you meant they locked it down.I logged in to watch a movie with my Dad at his place and as soon as I went back to my house and logged in it prompted him for the password. He's an 8-minute drive away.

I don't have a password for HBO Max, I authenticate through my phone. If I wanted to 'share' it with him I'd have to drive over to his place each time and also not use mine. I pay for HBO through YTTV so maybe that's the disconnect in our experiences.

Mine is through DirecTV so I do the sign in with a provider. I just checked and I've had 7 different devices use the account in the last 2 days.I don't have a password for HBO Max, I authenticate through my phone. Speaking of downloading, I tried finding early episodes of Wheeler Dealers with Edd for my upcoming trip, but only one actually had seeders. Guess I'll stick to movies.

Read that earlier and my first thought was, I can't believe they even considered a season 2 without Michael C. Hall.

That 90s Show actually really grew on me, and I hope they do a second season.

Finished echo 3 on Apple TV. I hate myself for sticking thru to the end. Terrible show in every aspect

So it's worth a shot? When they did "That 80s Show" it **** the bed, and I thought "That 90s Show" would do the same. That 90s Show actually really grew on me, and I hope they do a second season.
It just blows my mind that the same time has past (if not more) between when That 70s Show was on in the late 90s/early 2000s compared to That 90s Show and now.

My wife's been watching That 90s Show, despite not really watching much of the original show. I was shocked that That 70s Show debuted in 1998 (!!)

Great, and now this has me wanting to rewatch That 70s Show again. I haven't watched it since it's initial run, outside of a few episodes here and there in syndication.

Just finished White Lotus season 1, and neither my wife nor myself felt the ending was satisfying.Yeah, these are absolutely insufferable people, which is the point from what I can tell.We finally started White Lotus. After season 1, I already hate half of the characters and hope they drown.
I think the first season is more plot driven, it's a cleaner story line that wraps up cleanly (IMO).
Season two is more expansive and ambiguous, nothing is really resolved, except the, so I thought the closure for season 1 was satisfying.
