This week’s Ted Lasso was the first real swing and a miss of the series.
It was the second of the two extra episodes Apple ordered, so the script was taken from the discard pile. Enjoyed the Jeff Tweedy version of the theme song though.

Yeah I figured that was one of the filler episodes. It definitely felt like it. I appreciate them taking chances and veering from the formula, but that was a miss.

I enjoyed it a lot more upon rewatch. Once you know what it's deal is, is an enjoyable detour, imo.

It’s not just that it’s a detour. Tonally it feels like it’s from a completely different show. It’s this weird post modern dream sequence style that doesn’t sit right next to the other episodes. I get what they were trying to do, but for me it was a failure and an easy skip on rewatches.

I mean, to each their own, obviously. Beard is an inherently weird/mysterious character, so I would expect an episode that focuses on him to have a completely different tone and energy than the regular bunch of eps tied together by the titular character, who is almost Beard's opposite. They used their extra budget to flesh out a supporting character in a way that is fittingly unique to the character. But yeah, if you like it you like it, if you don't you don't.

Say streaming services start making bids for the major weekend sporting events. What happens to the networks?

Streaming is already making bids for those sporting events. Peacock tested an ND game last week that was streaming only. I think Amazon has an exclusive NFL game on Thursdays starting next year I believe. Heck, I think the Pens are on like 3 ESPN plus only games.

I think it will be a while because milliions still watch the networks for TV and sports, but eventually you'll just be streaming.

IndyCar has a few Peacock-only events next year. Which means they don't exist. ;)

The B99 finale was well done. It was time and that was a satisfying ending.
Watched it last night - agreed. Terrific ending to the series.

Still need to watch the last season. I can't believe it's been on for 8 seasons and has 153 episodes. Great show though.

Season 2 of Tiger King is coming.

Didn’t everyone realize they hated that show a few weeks after watching it?

Nah that show is still good. The people in the show were awful, though. Like anything else, once it reached a certain height of popularity, some turned on it. I don't think we need a season 2, though. And we DEFINITELY don't need a narrative film.

You guys missed out on a pretty big piece of pop culture. Aside from that, the show is bonkers and was a fun watch, especially because of when it was released.

It’s terrible. The animals…the people…all just exploited and abused in a dozen different ways. There’s nothing there. Just a bunch of trash people.
