I wanted to read the books before starting the show, but damn it I guess I’ll start The Expanse as well.

I didn't know it was based on a book series.

Has anyone been able to enjoy seasons 4 or 5 of arrested development? I still binge/sleep to the first 3 seasons. But in trying to get someone else to start watching the series i keep telling them it gets better over time

Has anyone tried enough viewings of season's 4 or 5 to find out they're good eventually? I doubt it. I may try. I'm guessing slightly but not worth it

Only one episode into the Expanse for me. So far, so good. It feels like there are multiple stories going on at once, which I'm down with.

‘What We Do In The Shadows’ Season 2: Mark Hamill To Guest Star
What We Do in Shadows creator Jemaine Clement spilled the beans at TCA this afternoon that Star Wars actor Mark Hamill will guest-star in season 2. He was mum as to who exactly Hamill will play.

Season 2 of the FX series based on the 2014 Clement-Taika Waititi vampire comedy film, premieres this spring.

They are a tough grind. Definitely lost steam after season 3

I don't even think season 3 is very good. The show just got too dumb with Wee Britain and Mr. F and what not. I watched Season 4 when it was first released and thought it was kind of okay other than the weird way they had to structure the episodes, the lack of Portia de Rossi, and Tobias' storyline because Maria Bamford is annoying. I have not watched the recut Season 4 and really have not had the desire to watch Season 5. I'll put Season 1 or 2 on as background noise pretty much anytime though.

The Expanse got... you would be watching and just think, "What?" Writers trying to be clever, but not being clever, but look at how clever we are... no. So I stopped watching. As most everyone stopped watching which is why it got dropped.

The production company sold three seasons to SyFy at the outset. Overall ratings for S3 exceeded S2, though there was a bit of a dip in live viewership, as there is for all things nowadays. The production company fully financed and produced the first three seasons of the show, resulting in an extremely restrictive distribution agreement for SyFy, which had only first-run linear rights in the US. US streaming rights were with Amazon, it aired and streamed via different networks in Canada, and all other international distribution was via Netflix.

So that’s why the show was cancelled by SyFy. A bad distribution agreement that prevented SyFy from making any streaming or international revenue. Not whatever nonsense you said.

The Expanse isn't perfect, but writers trying to be too clever is definitely not among its flaws.

This is reminiscent of the video game boom (and bust) of the mid-80s.

This is a much better "boom" than the post-Survivor reality series boom. I'll take it.

SyFy has a long history of canceling good shows, so they do not get the benefit of the doubt.

It wasn’t even really a cancellation since SyFy paid zero in development and production. They just didn’t want to air the show anymore and the production company was immediately able to shop the show elsewhere.... unlike shows made by those dickheads at Netflix.

So, some TV series that have been announced:
  • A Walker Texas Ranger reboot has been announced for the CW. It will star Jared Padalecki, and does not involve Chuck Norris. :face:
  • Superman & Lois will join CW's DC Multiverse, and will star Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch. I know Hoechlin has played Superman in the CW storylines already
  • Jack Reacher will have a series on Amazon. Tom Cruise is not involved, and Lee Child stated that there will be no more films.
  • Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden will star in the Russo Bros spy series Citadel, also on Amazon. They will star the US series, but it will have localized versions in multiple countries that will feed into the main series. That actually sounds interesting.

Jared Padalecki and the CW must have some blood pact.
