We finally started White Lotus. After season 1, I already hate half of the characters and hope they drown.
Yeah, these are absolutely insufferable people, which is the point from what I can tell.

I think the first season is more plot driven, it's a cleaner story line that wraps up cleanly (IMO).

Season two is more expansive and ambiguous, nothing is really resolved, except the
cartoonish boat massacre
, so I thought the closure for season 1 was satisfying.

Yeah, definitely want to state that I like it so far, so I'll keep on it.

Started that 90s show. Little heavy on the laugh track - but I think it'll be a watch just to say I did.
It's a nice little show. A little light on the yuks and high on the sentimentality compared to the original IMO, but I haven't watched those shows in a decade at least.

Debra Jo Rupp is still on point. Kurtwood Smith has pretty clearly slowed a step but still great. Watched the episode where Bob Pinciotti comes back last night and that guy has really slowed down, it was kind of sad. But, thinking about it, it actually makes the show more realistic, doesn't it? Apart from Ozzie I don't really find the new cast of kids to be too interesting. Maybe Kelso's kid, somewhat. He does have the Kelso vibe down pretty well. It's pretty incredible how hearing Red tell people he's gonna stick his foot up their ass never gets old.

Saw someone ask somewhere how they were going to deal with Danny Masterson's legal issues. Easy- Hyde has not been mentioned even once, that I recall while everyone else who's still alive has made an appearance.

Agree with all of that. Just finished the third show - and the call-backs are the best thing about it. The kids are just there for me, none of them are interesting, for the most part.

I was watching the trailer for this and thought to myself that Kurtwood Smith is as old in this show as I thought he was when I watched That 70s Show for the first time.

Surprised to learn that I am still younger than Kurtwood Smith was when he made the original. He was 55 then and 79 now.

Also, I realized last night that I was watching a show where 15 year olds were smoking weed, with my 16 year old.

Second season finale of For All Mankind was a gut punch. Loving season three, too.

Atlanta season 3 is rooooough
Just watched the S3 finale. One of the most dumbfounding turns a series has ever made. I’ve read that season 4 returns to the usual form, but if I was watching this week to week, I wouldn’t be returning to it.

Glover is definitely capable of making a Black Mirror style show, but he should’ve done that instead of turning an established show into whatever that **** that was. The worst part is the people who did like it dismiss any criticism of it by saying **** like “you just don’t get art.”

This is like Family Guy continuing without Seth MacFarlane. Rick & Morty is Justin Rolland. That said, it had to be done. Why is it so hard to just not be an dadhole?

Charged with one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit. Facing a max of 7 years in prison. Unrelated to those charges, he was also sending inappropriate DMs to underaged fans. The details are protected but “the incident occurred on or around Jan. 19, 2020, against an unnamed Jane Doe who was dating Roiland at the time.“

White Lotus is just so weird. We still have 3 episodes left, but my initial assumption was that one of the very few likeable characters is the one who dies. Hope not, but we'll see.

Side note: Could the mother and daughter be any less likeable?

I watched the first episode and a half or so of Poker Face. It's really good, quirky, a throwback to the murder mystery network shows of the 80s like Magnum PI, Murder She Wrote, etc. Just much, much darker, as one would imagine on a streaming service.

They're all awful. S2 characters are also awful but have some likability. Flawed and shitty people whereas S1 were awful with no redeeming qualities.

A friend of mine texted me a one minute clip of The Office.

I watched the whole series a few years ago, kind of live blogging the experience in this thread. I've noticed that every time I come across a clip from The Office or an episode while flipping through the channels I remember NONE OF IT. I can probably recall maybe 15 minutes of total content and almost no dialogue at all. I wonder if that is why people are okay rewatching it so often.

Anyone here watching the Criminal Minds reboot on Paramount? I gave up on the series it's last few seasons but decided to give it a go again. I'm probably spoiled by more serious crime dramas like True Detective, but I'm amazed at how a show about serial killers can feel so lightweight and inconsequential. I don't know if I'll get through the season.

Over the past few months I binged The Shield. Wasn't much of a fan, especially when it came to the later season. I think Dutch and Claudette were the only characters I enjoyed watching.

I'm re-watching Mayor of Kingstown in preparation for season 2. It's surprisingly well written. Probably one of my favorite shows of the past few years.

I feel like most people have it on as background noise, which also contributes to rewatches.

It's similar to watching sports or porn for me. Unless it's something really special or memorable I just completely forget I watched it.

I know I'm in the minority. I made it all the way through, so I didn't hate it, I just couldn't get invested in it. It was like watching a show where the centerpiece is a high school bully with a badge. I understand that's super realistic (and the point), but I just despised most of those guys. Other shows with anti-hero leads (The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire) still made their characters engaging. I just wanted someone to blow Vic's brains out. And it was all so... macho. Maybe I watched it too soon after The Wire, but I didn't connect with it.

He was even worse than Vic. I saw him on Justified first, where he was pretty likeable, so this was a major detour for me, ha.
