The finale of Seinfeld had a pretty innovative and amazing outcome.

The issue was that they did a clip show. Why?!? It was already in syndication. Everyone knew who the soup Nazi was. With precious few moments left in its existence, it decided to take a nap.

A month away from my 12th birthday, the Seinfeld finale was the only episode of the show I watched on NBC. The continual syndication run on TBS was on during dinner for as far back as I can remember.

Are you talking about the first hour of the finale broadcast? Clip shows were obviously a pretty popular trope in the 80s & 90s and the show was coming to an end. It makes sense that they'd want to do a clip show to sort of celebrate the show. It wasn't even out of the ordinary for Seinfeld. They also did an hour long clip show for the 100th episode, though I believe it's often skipped over in syndication these days.

I mean the trial. Calling Babu to the stand and then also showing a scene from the Babu episode. Taking the most iconic characters and then reminding people who they are…even though everyone was watching Seinfeld every day on syndication and there was absolutely no need to do that.

The ACTUAL clip show was really well done and I loved it.

Ooh got you. That's another reason why I feel like the finale plays better now than it did in 98. When it aired originally right after the clip show, it felt redundant. Now you see it on its own and it works really well since it functions as both a finale and a quasi-clip show/best of.

Dunno, I don't have Hulu. I assume they would if you have the lower tier, but not if you have the ad-free version.

Jackie Childs was also very much over represented in that episode. Take away the Frank Costanza scenes and the whole thing is dog crap.

I don't disagree there. Jackie Childs is one character that really doesn't hold up 20+ years later.

Apparently Seinfeld will be remastered in 4k when it comes to Netflix. Should be interesting.

The remasters on Hulu are 16:9.
