anyone watch 'abducted in plain sight'?

it is about two families in the church of latter day saints in idaho that had a very odd relationship. the neighbor sort of brainwashed the 12 year old girl that she needed to have sex with him to save the planet from an alien race

its pretty remarkable to think that one man was able to
have a 9 month affair with the mother, get a hand job from the father, and sexually abuse the adolescent/teen girl all of the same family. get your **** together people

I watched it last night. All of these people deserved each other. The only sympathetic participant was the FBI agent.

Working my way up to that one, sounds crazy, not sure what kind of frame of mind I should be in to watch

Wife wanted to watch it over the weekend and I told her I wasn't interested; I was already feeling pretty low and didn't want to amplify it. I was feeling better last night so we gave it a go. Turned out to be more baffling than horrific. I was expecting a 'torture porn' Saw-like mentality and it was more like an exercise in "how stupid can a story be and still have people believe it." Because of all the reenactments and it being a period piece it has a very 'Unsolved Mysteries' w/Robert Stack vibe to it.

I turned to my wife at the end and asked:
Would your mother have put you on a plane to fly up north a **** a guy for a couple weeks just because you wouldn't shut up about him?

"No, my Dad would have shot him the first night he climbed into bed with me."

It's the most F'd up documentary I've ever watched. Just mind numbing decisions for so many adults to all make. Every single adult in this girls life failed her. Every one.

Which reminds me, I watched it a few weekends ago and searched "Abducted" on here to see if there was any talk about it and the results yielded this

Please do. I'd like to hear your thoughts.
What a bag of turds.

So much left on the table.

It’s late and I’m on my phone so full comments will come tomorrow, but what a cheap way out in the name of “artistry.”

It’s weird because I liked the three timelines and the overall quiet approach and Ali is a great actor, but it left me a little empty.

I have really mixed feelings. It wasn't the dumpster fire that was season two by any means, but I just didn't get drawn into the characters and thus, the heavy focus on them vs the crime, left me wanting.

And thus ends Season 1 of The Masked Singer.

Got two of the final three, but not the winner.

Interesting.

I didn’t know he could actually sing.

So yes, a little interesting.

I've already missed 2-3 episodes this season. Not used to watching a show when it actually airs. Needless to say, glad to see Season 7 is in the works.

Did anyone else watch The Leftovers? For a show that I was pretty ambivalent about through the 3 seasons it ran, the finale was sort of terrific.
I’m callin’ you into the dance circle bro.

I finished this show over the summer. Nora is maybe my favorite TV character of all time. And I liked the twists and turns along the way.

But Tony. That finale. I know everyone loves it. But it was the most frustrating finale I’ve ever seen. And not in a “ahhh they didn’t explain the thing!” way. To the point that it ruins the entire series for me.

I would like to explore this but I don’t want to assault you with a compliant list for something you like. Also, I would like to know why you liked it. I’m trying to understand. This has been problematic for me.

Oh man, that was like 2 years ago wasn't it? I"m not sure I remember a ton about it. I think what I really liked was the message. About how you could either spend your life trying to figure out "why" things happen or are the way they are, or you could accept it and move on. But the message is really all I can remember now. Like I said, I was pretty ambivalent to the show as a whole but I was impressed with how they wrapped it up.

I won’t go into a tirade then, but I will say this.

A) except for Kevin, the resolutions for basically every other character arc were either implied off screen or they simply didn’t happen.

B) Nora didn’t get an ending. She neither moved on, nor accepted anything. She merely ended up with her hot cop BF, who was already established as an incompatible partner. You can’t set us up for 29 episodes with her story and then just bail because Lindeloff.

The ending should have been this...

The finale plays out the same way. But instead of fading to black, Kevin says, “It’s time.” He takes Nora outside, gives her a tiny speech about moving on with the Leftovers song playing. Then he points to a hill in the distance. Standing there are her children. She is first confused and on the verge of breaking down. But then realizes what’s happening. Kevin tells her she has a choice to make. She can come home to him or be with her children. He explains to her that she is in the bubble right now. Her brother is giving her CPR. They didn’t turn off the machine in time. It didn’t vaporize her, but the liquid did fill her lungs. So now. What it your choice Nora? Come back to life? Just like Kevin did so many times. Or accept that your children are gone, and hope to meet them in the afterlife. She thinks. But she knows the answer. She knows she just used Kevin to forget. To pretend that she’s ok. But she isn’t. And she’s tired. She says a tearful goodbye to Kevin. He understands. He’s smiling. She walks to the distant hill. She does not smother her children with hugs. Instead she takes them by the hand and starts walking slowly into the sunset. She turns around. Kevin is gone. A final tear rolls down her face and she walks away, hand in hand with her children. Smiling. Finally at peace.

/fin.

Lindeloff instead decided to say, “lol idk. I guess nobody gets better”. “Or maybe they do, but I don’t know how. Not my job”

And this is not a tirade, considering the specifics I omitted. Sorry Tony. You didn’t sign up for this post.
