Dead to Me on Netflix. Completely decent way to spend 5 hours. Enjoyed it.

Anyone watch BattleBots? Robot fighting aside, which is still a lot of fun to watch, Faruq (announcer) is absolutely hilarious in his introductions.

He’s getting more outrageous each season.

Big Little Lies is such a dumb show. There isn’t really a better way to put it. It’s just completely stupid. 6 more hours of staring at that ****ing haircut and pretending like this has any connection at all to reality is a daunting task.

My wife wants to start Big Little Lies. Thankfully she will watch it by herself and not subject me to it.

How is The Pacific? It's on sale for $11 and I remember having a hard time getting into it and not finishing it. Worth it?

It was ok as spectacle. Not the same quality of story as band of brothers, and not even close.

Yes. Rami Malek makes it worthwhile.

that was my problem first watching it, but the reality is, nothing compares to BoB. I know they were going for the same thing, but I think I got 2 episodes in and that was it. Harder story to tell with all the bouncing around.

BoB was basically an adaptation of the Ambrose book. Whereas The Pacific was a mashup of a book about Basilone, Sledge's With The Old Breed memoir, and some other writings. The Pacific never had a chance at being as cohesive as BoB, unfortunately.

Rami Malek and Joseph Mazzello were great, though.

I watch Band of Brothers every year. I don't care if I ever see The Pacific again. I was disappointed with how disappointed I was in it.

I enjoyed it, but yes, it was three stories woven into a ten hour miniseries. They were supposed to add a Marine aviator storyline to it, but it was too expensive (but that plotline is still in the companion book, written by Hugh Ambrose).

High production values, good cast, excellent action scenes but not nearly on the same level as Band of Brothers.

I really enjoyed the Basilone storyline - Jon Bernthal sighting there too. I love Leckie's Aussie girlfriend as well. Not that particular storyline though.

Definitely worth $11.

Wrapped up Veep last night. For as bad as the Game of Thrones last season was, I thought Veep was superb.

New season of Last Chance U drops on July 19th. It's Independence College part II. Keep in mind the coach got fired after the season was filmed for telling his players that he's their personal Hitler or some such.
