I watched 4 episodes and sort of forgot about it, I liked it enough, just wasn't waiting for the next to hit every week. They sure did pack a lot into it

I think I made it 4 or 5 eps. I liked the characters and should have loved the show as it's right in my wheelhouse, but I just never got invested in it.

Watched the Pele documentary on Netflix. It was good but left me wanting more.

We're about 6 episodes into Lupin. Might be my favorite show this year. Loved Omar Sy in Intouchables and he's great in this role as well.

We just finished The Wire last night, really enjoyed it. Of course it was done by David Simon whose book was the genesis of my all time favorite show, Homicide: Life on the Street, which featured Clark Johnson of Season 5 as my favorite character, Meldrick Lewis. If you haven't checked that one out, you should.

Started True Detective last night. A little slow compared to the Wire but maybe I will warm up to it. Gonna have to because no way Mrs. F does not finish a show with Matthew McConaughey.

Definitely a slow burn, but that first season is so good

The animaniacs both old and new are terrific. It seems like it's just wacko, yacko and dot and pinky and the brain from the few new episodes I've seen?

Just watch Season 1. Forget 2 and 3 exist.

Non-surprising Shmenguin take:

I rewatched True Detective season 1 last month and it’s actually a bad show. but great actors and great performances tricked us into thinking otherwise.

If you swap anyone else into the Cole role, they’re gonna come off as whiny reddit edgelords. And pay close attention to the dialogue in any scene with Woody’s wife. It’s soap opera blather. And then there’s just that none of it makes sense and is full of plot holes - particularly the finale.

The show runner got found out in seasons 2 and 3. It’s not like he was a genius then suddenly sucked. He got lucky with casting.

The mystery and atmosphere of S1 is absolutely tops for me. I don't care what is good or bad about it, that season hit something that few other shows have for me. I liked the 3rd season. 2nd season is no bueno.

So Amazon ends Bosch, only for there to be a spin-off series on IMDB TV, which is owned by Amazon? This one makes my head hurt.

Cop show. First season is the worst (it's not bad, just mediocre). Greatly improves from there.

Hell yes.

Weird choice with the move to IMdB TV - which is free, but ad supported. But I'll take it.

I’ll take it as well, the set up is just so weird. Same show runner and writing room. It’s Bosch Season 8 with a different name and on a different streaming service.

@Dickie Dunn: It’s funny to me that ever since I started watching The Shield, I have seen cameos from the cast on new shows. Dutch was on Magnum PI a few episodes ago, I just realized that Connie is in SWAT, along with the captain (forget his character’s name in Shield, but he was the ex-cop who ran a security business and robbed homes to drum up business). On the latest SWAT episode - a show Kenny Johnson is on (WTF DID YOU DO, SHANE?) - Ronnie made a guest appearance.

Gilroy? And yea you’ll see that a lot. I believe SWAT is a Shawn Ryan show as well. He always uses a ton of actors from The Shield. Sons of Anarchy is another one with a ton of cameos from The Shield. Kurt Sutter wrote and directed a lot of Shield episodes and also played the creepy foot fetish Armenian.

At one point I did a deep dive into the events that inspired The Shield. Rampart scandal, CRASH unit, etc. Pretty crazy stuff with bank robberies and cops that grew up with Suge and did his bidding. Show was even originally called RAMPART before the LAPD asked them to change it.

I remember that dude. One of my favorite “hey it’s that guy!” moments on a rewatch was Bert Kreischer as a peeping tom cuck watching his wife take in some BBC programming.
