Finished Daredevil season 1 last night. So, so good. I have to hold myself to one episode per day, otherwise I'd just burn through the entire season in a single sitting.

I think it was rumored to be happening, but HBO has officially green lit the pilot for the Watchmen:

Awesome. It'll be interesting to see if they go with the original ending from the book or take the Zack Snyder route.

If you're going to do a full blown series you might as well tackle the novel ending. However, I think Snyder's ending was a good compromise given the time limits of a movie.

I watched the first season and thought it was reasonably intelligent, realistic sci-fi. I haven't been moved yet to seek out the 2nd season.

I like that alot. I enjoyed his arc in Daredevil. This looks to be like they are taking the route that Punisher Warzone(the movie did). While that was not a great movie, it at least kept Punisher true to what he was which all of other punisher movies(IMO) did not. It should be very easy to write Punisher, but yet they have always found ways to screw it up.

My biggest concern with The Punisher show is that they may have rushed it out due to the popularity in DD S2. He was excellent in the scope of that, so I am looking forward to the show... but staying cautiously optimistic.

I watched episode 3 last night. At this rate, I'll finish the season in April. Not the show's fault.

Same. I'm still stuck on Season 2. My wife is not into the show so I can only watch the few times she's not around.

It looks like virtually every show that we watch returns this week, so it has gone from basically having nothing to watch to having too much to watch in the blink of an eye.

My wife got her spreadsheet out and starting mapping out her fall viewing schedule. She has no idea when she'll be able to watch most of it.

I told her she could probably cut back by dropping a new show for her: Scandal. She began watching it a few weeks ago, and it's terrible. I hadn't watched an episode of it until last night (she's somewhere in the sixth season), but just overhearing it I noticed:

1. The cutscene transitions are marked with this terrible camera shutter sound, audible throughout our entire house even if she's wearing headphones
2. The acting is generally terrible, as I thought one scene was someone from SNL playing a terrible politician character in a skit; no, it was actually one of the leads acting in a dramatic scene
3. The amount of shenanigans the main characters get into - mostly by ducking the Secret Service 2-3 times an episode - stretches the bounds of decency. Like I think the Secret Service probably should sue Shonda Rimes for libel.
4. Most political shows try to get actual news people to film fake soundbites/interviews to make it real. Not so with Scandal. They have this woman with a terrible southern accent playing a conservative talk show host that is shallow and pedantic. No nuance. West Wing had writers from both sides of the aisle working on screenplays to make the show sound reasonably accurate, not so on this show.

Item 3 sounds like they took the Blacklist theory of governmental operational tactics.

Blacklist is closer to The Wire than it is to Scandal, imo. But yeah, the incompetence of the G-men is staggering in both shows.

Is 24 the gold standard for the portrayal of gross governmental incompetence?

My wife has been binging this too and I echo all of these points. That shutter sound drives me absolutely crazy.

Nice! The only problem I've been having with shows like this is that cable TV quality is so inferior to the bluray/4k discs that these all come out on and there really is a massive difference. Hurry up and catch up TV!
