I ended up taking the first half under at 20.5, and over 3.5FG total. Basically hoping for a close low scoring game.

Lost this on a Hoyer hail mary to end the half. Whatever, I mean, really, what can you say? 95 yard drive with no timeouts in under two minutes with the backup QB.Source of the post first half under at 20.5

well, that was an easy bet. I don't get why the Colts were such dogs. The Texans have looked like **** all season so far.

Kessel took his sweet time getting over 3.5 shots.

Yeah. I unfortunately on top of the solo bet for the Colts, I also did a Colts/under parlay.well, that was an easy bet. I don't get why the Colts were such dogs. The Texans have looked like **** all season so far.

We both were beat on the same play. An ultimately meaningless touchdown that never should have happened. Oh well.Yeah. Why are the Saints getting 5 from the Eagles?
Pats/Cowboys o/u is 49.5. Looks like they're hesitant to put that to 50+ based on much lesser games having similar lines. Falcons/Redskins is at 48, and Saints/Eagles is at 49. Browns/Ravens is 43, less than a touchdown away.

I imagine Saints are getting 5 because it doesn't matter how bad the Eagles are, the Saints with Brees have been poopy outside for several years.

I was hoping that someone would create a gambling thread. I'm just as much of a degenerate as the next person.
Rotten night last night...hopefully getting it back tonite with Rangers +1 1/2 (winner already), Royals, and Jets-Devils over. I like the banter back and forth about lines and stuff. Could probably talk lines all day. Looking forward to Vegas in a couple of weeks.

I'm not touching the NHL until after the SuperBowl, but I'm interested in listening to you guys chattering about it.
I picked up a cheap book for my Kindle about professional betting. I'm not on that level by any stretch, but I wanted to know what those guys have to do to make it a livelihood. The big takeway is that since there are so many NHL (NBA, MLB, etc) games there isn't much ability for the odds makers to develop and move a fully developed line so the margin of error to exploit the edge in a wager is much higher in these leagues than the NFL. Especially for props and such. The guy kind of recommended to not even bet the big NFL games of the week because they're so well vetted.
Along those lines, I'm annoyed my book took down the Colts 1.5FG o/u bet since that thing was a slam dunk and paid out at 3.10. I won the game 3.5FG over but it only paid 2.00. Really should've pulled the trigger on that early but I was on my phone and it had spotty reception.

I just did a 3 game parlay on the moneyline for hets, wings, and rangers. This will be my last hockey bet for a while unless i see a good player shot total prop(like ovechkin 3.5)

What site do you use to get player shot total props? I don't think I've ever seen that anywhere before...not like I need extra things to choose from.
Normally, I let hockey take a week or so to get an idea of what's going on but I'm trying something this year with over-unders to jump on them for making so many 5 lines.

Bovada. Kessel was o/u 3.5 last night he didnt get it till that last flurry.

Just browsed through the NHL props, so weird ones in there.
Total saves [Goalie] 27.5 o/u
Total goals, odd or even
Team scoring first wins game
First team to three goals
Might as well play roulette. heh.

Total saves o/u is roulerre? That seems a lot more predictable than nfl o/u

That's the only one there I would consider. It's just weird since that is mostly out of the goalies control.

I'm considering reading some books on the subject too.
Ideally I'll write some sort of software soon to (try to) monitor spreads and trends and whatnot. I have to find some sort of public API from a book though...that would help a lot

I imagine that if i bet $5 on every nhl game every day(not now, but like 5 years ago whem i was fully in tune with the league) i could have carved out a really nice profit. Of course i didnt have that money then.

The book I read reminded me of you, MiMH. Lots of talk about the Broncos and Manning, and a lot of swearing.

Was there a lot of tone of "this is profound" with regards to pedestrian thoughts?

That $20 is looking good.I dont follow college football but am i wrong that clemson -7.5 over ga tech is really good?
Also bet last night got voided so i put $2 on first period ending pens up 2-0 and $1 on fleury making under 26.5 saves

Had the over of 52 in that one. GT has been terrible defensively this season so figured that Clemson would put up some numbers.
As for my other picks today...
Making It Interesting
Today I have:
Buffalo -3 v. Tenn
Saints/Eagles under 49 (least confident here)
Pats/Cowboys over 49.5 (super confident, it's at 50.5 now I think)
Not sure what to do about SNF/MNF.
SNF: NYG -7.5 o/u 43.5. Blech.
MNF: Pit +4 o/u 46. Just nothing to like there. Maybe a prop.
Maybe I'll pick up a bet in the 2nd game, Denver -5 probably. I can't see Oakland scoring much and Grandpa can probably put up 2-3 tds.
