I subscribe to the Athletic. What I like about it is it isn't just local sports coverage.

Katie Brown moving to Montana to....cover high school sports: https://medium.com/@ktbrwn.85/moving-to ... 6d62200767

A little over a year ago she was covering the Caps for NHL.com, and now covering high school sports in booming Kalispell, Montana. Sounds like a movie plot. Good luck to her, maybe its for the best. But looks like the DK incident and writing about it hurt her career.
She will be living with her parents in two years.

I’m sure it has everything to do with her professional portfolio
Meh, the Pompeani name aside, she’s pretty talented in her own right.
Agree. The name definitely opened doors, but she has kept them opened and moved forward. She is pretty talented IMO.

maybe there's more to the story that I don't know about, but is it wise to move across the country with no savings and having to depend on a gofundme to get you there?

https://www.gofundme.com/katies-moving-to-montana

Wow, she has $955 funded. I was only expecting like a $100. I really need to start a random GoFundMe..

DK recently: "Cody Tucker starts on the Penguins beat for us Monday with the release of his first feature, one we're all pumped to share. As one of his former colleagues at the Lansing State Journal shared with me in a text yesterday, "Just wanted to tell you that you're getting one hell of a reporter and writer."

Where have we heard this type of praise before? Maybe Big Country will be good, who knows.

Dale Lolley in February: "One of the criticisms Dejan used to get on his new hires was that he would blow them up like they were the greatest journalists to ever put words in print — or on the Internet. I’m not going to do that."

I thought DK was going to stop being the face of the site and Dale/DK's wife would take over? I think DK pretty much hired the new hockey writer himself after he said he was only give advice on who to hire.

I guess its hard giving up control of your baby.

New Pens writer started at DKPittsburghsports today. Good interview with three Pens enforcers: Tamer, Laraque, and Caulfield.
“Big Country” Cody Tucker:

“Much like my ballyhooed introductory profile photo shows; what you see is what you get. I like my Coors beer, heavy metal, I have a lot of tattoos and a shaggy beard. My Twitter feed is typically filled with barbs at the fans of my rival teams — look out, Colorado State and BYU loyalists — and intellectual types who drink craft beer with oranges on the rim.”
He will be a hit with the Kenny Chesney crowd that likes hockey.

Asking for money from strangers so you can move across country for a job you voluntarily accepted. And people are giving it to her. Unreal.

Great story Kaboly. What are the chances?!

Picking up some dry cleaning and as the lady is looking for it and other clothes go whipping by, I see a Malkin jersey, Polamalu jersey and Lambert jersey go flying by. Only in Pittsburgh.
What are the chances people would dry clean jerseys that have the instructions "dry clean only"?!!?!
which means "it's dirty."

The last person in Pittsburgh who gave himself the name Big Country didn't work out too well.

It's trying way too hard. Throw a few jabs on the show, write an article if you have too, (which he did) then let the fish jump in the boat. At least that way you'll get more people that take you seriously instead of making is so obvious you're just trolling for attention.

If any other person on the planet called him and mentioned a dropped pass or wrong route at friggen camp, he'd lose his 166 mind quicker than he could hang up on them.

It's been like three weeks and I'm already tired of the whole LIT brigade. That's my only gripe about Madden, I listen to him daily, but God damn does he milk something dry when he thinks it's hilarious.

How often is Madden on the Benz show? Might be because Friday is one of my three car commute days but I feel like I hear fill-ins as often as I do Madden.

He was in Vegas again this past week. In addition to his roughly quarter million annual salary, Mark gets 5 weeks of vacation. Nice gig.

a certain morning show host is really white-knighting AB on twitter.

Just because he was nice to one group doesn't mean he didn't drop the ball on other plans by being several hours late to another group.
