Cook: you know what today is Andrew? It's one of my favorite national holidays.

Poni: Is it 4-20?

So is Rossi trying to turn him being an unlikable A-hole into a character now? The Fan guys on twitter are all making it a point to jokingly refer to him being angry, cynical, and negative all time. Like being a complete d*ckbag is just some schtick he plays up for radio.

rossi's article today about how the pirates should be spending as much as the brewers today in was a real gem.

Lol, I loved this part:
Can we all agree that the Pirates should at least be within Cueto's salary ($10 million) of the Brewers? Is it too much to ask that the Pirates get within the combined cost of Brandon Phillips and Todd Frazier ($15,833,333) of the Reds?

The Pirates could add Cueto, Phillips and Frazier, and they still would be about $7.5 million short of what the Reds were paying to start this season.
Their lineup is pretty darn good, there's no point to spend just to spend... Then he lists some of the best bargains in MLB as if the Pirates had the opportunity to sign those guys at those prices this offseason and declined.

I guess the Yanks are cheap because they didn't sign Cutch at his bargain price

I read DK's article from the Pens game yesterday (for whatever reason, I didn't get blocked by the paywall). While he is one of the best writers in this city (which is like saying he is the skinniest kid at fat camp), I can't believe people pay for his stuff. More often than not, his writing comes off as incredibly whiny and cantankerous.

I think his site gives like 10 free articles a month before the paywall kicks in.

I just can't imagine that acting the way rossi does and constantly spewing garbage like he does can possibly garner any sort of financial gain. I know the old "well were talking about him so it's working" blah blah stuff but when 99% of people know the second something comes out of your mouth that it's made up, and you get people on twitter saying you're a moron, what is there to gain from that? I regrettably read maybe 3 or 4 of his articles in maybe the past 6 months and each and every one is total nonsense. How long is that sustainable when hardly anyone ever takes you seriously? Is it really worth it. Just seems to me there's more to be gained by actually having a bit of pride in your work and trying to do a good job instead of your end game being just sit behind your keyboard and tee-hee about people onthe internet calling you an idiot. I guess that's the easy way tho. Hell Skip Bayless and his Tebow trolling was less transparent than whatever the hell rossi thinks he's doing.

Last night every sports writer/reporter in Pittsburgh not on the Pens beat felt the need to chime in on the Pens "historic collapse". And this morning I saw that Bob "I'm retired-not retired" Smizik felt the need to chime in.

Do other cities have as many hack sports journalists (and I use the term very loosely) as Pittsburgh does?

Dejans writing is not particuly proficient from a technical standpoint, nor does he say much of interest.

Madden is the best writer amongst PGH sports hacks IMO; I wish he wrote more.

Collier is good. Cook never met a one sentence paragraph he didn't like.

No one in town approaches Cope's writing from his SI days IMO.

And Rossi has openly and repeatedly expressed his dislike of both the organization and it's fans. His rampage since getting shut out of the 66 and Burkle interview is hilariously transparent.

That's a low bar. Why is it so hard to get good writers in sports in Pgh? Bruce Keiden is the last great sport writer the city had.
