Pretty sure the 'P' in 'PG' stands for Paywall which is why I won't even click links to articles there anymore.

they stopped Tuesday delivery. and I *think* Saturday. I don't really know about the Saturday edition because I only read it at work (where we get a paper copy of the wsj and pg each day)

Pittsburgh Dad Jr. finally blocked me I guess but I'm told he and Mullzy are predictably on their moral high horses over rooting for Tiger Woods?

The only sports writers I know left at the PG are Fitapaldo, Cook, and Mackey. I assume Fitapaldo will take over the Steeler beat.

PM Team comes back from a break at 2:33 and finally takes a caller. Caller has a thick yinzer accent and says the Pens need a new conditioning coach :face: he waited all that time to say the Pens most glaring issue after getting swept was they need a new conditioning coach.

They take one other call and then break at 2:39. I wish they would extend their segment times on days like these after a season ends.

Then you wouldn't get to hear about the great taste of Fat Heads beer. With signature flavors like Bumbleberry, and Sunshine Daydream and other things you'd be embarrassed to order in front of other people.

The Bob McLaughlin segment on Madden really takes me out of anything he’s talking about. He’s not a sports talking head, he doesn’t have any expertise on sports to speak of, he’s a 40 degree day and has no place on the show.

I’m thinking it has to be some part of the producer’s contract that Madden begrudgingly obliges to. Besides, it’s only one 4-5 or so minute segment per show.

For dealing with MM, it’s the least they can do for the producer. MM, as nice a guy as he is outside of his radio schlock, strikes me as someone who is hard to work for. He’s verbally eviscerated Bob on air, I feel like even at times it wasn’t intentional for the mic to be on.

He’s been in this industry for years, is the top in the market, and thus has very high expectations/standards for his show. He loses it when there’s any issues, especially with a guest - I think he had issues when Big Ben was on once and he was really pissed. Which I get, I would be too.

So it’s the producer self-serving themselves? That’s a terrible spot regardless of if it’s in a contract, Madden is an ahole, or whatever it’s a total grinding halt to the show

I always thought it was a contractual thing related to Bob losing the morning show with Tim. It’s also an opportunity for another sponsorship and 5 less minutes that MM has to “work” as he essentially just recaps the topics of the day with Bob.

Ex WTAE radio sports talk show host from the early to mid 90's. Left in a huff to Dallas at some point.

The only thing I can remember about Thor Tolo was that he would ask a realllly stupid question at the Stillers press conference every week and coach Cowher would yell at him.

I remember him being on the Pens radio side in the late 90s. I dont' think he was there very long though, maybe a year or two.

Apparently Mr. Tolo wasn't very well-liked on the tv side: http://old.post-gazette.com/sports/colu ... col2p2.asp

JuJu is streaming video games again, which should get certain radio hosts frothing at the mouth.
