I still remember calling him Bubby Blister as a kid, and thinking that was about the funniest thing ever. Take that, Bubby!

Also, TIL that Bubby Brister has the 2nd longest TD run by a Broncos QB, at 38 yards.

That Rob Cook article was also about how the QB didn’t matter because all they did was hand off to Barry Bananas Foster. He was an amazing flash in the pan.

I also thought Orlando Merced was the answer at first base for the Pirates, so what do I know?

I have no recollection of the Steelers until the 1994 Divisional playoff game against the Browns, and then of course the AFC Championship game that year. Then it was probably the next year that I started watching all the games.

In the span of 3-4 years Barry Foster was completely run into the ground, Bam Morris bought a trunk load of weed, and the Steelers traded for Jerome Bettis.

Foster lead the league with 390 carries in 1992 (led the AFC with 1,690 yards) and was never really the same after that. Injuries in 1993 and 1994 limited him to a total of 20 regular season games and 393 carries and the ball falling to the turf at the end of the 94 AFC Championship Game was it for his career.
n 1995, Barry Foster had become expendable due to his contract, the rise of Bam Morris and the signing of former 1,000-yard running back Erric Pegram. Pittsburgh traded Foster to the expansion Carolina Panthers but he was cut in training camp when he failed a physical. Despite a few flashes of his former brilliance, he retired.

Later that season, Foster came out of retirement to sign with the Cincinnati Bengals after the injury to their first round draft pick Ki-Jana Carter in the pre season. But two days after signing a $1 million contract, Foster changed his mind and left the Bengals. Foster, age 26, out of football since the Carolina Panthers released him before the 1995 season began, complained that he felt like "a 60-year-old running back" after his first workout in pads with the team. He later returned his reported $300,000 signing bonus to the Bengals, left town, and retired a few days later without playing a game. He announced that he had saved his money and had enough to retire.
It's crazy how good that one season was compared to the rest of his career.

To be positive, if Sean Gentille is the future of Pittsburgh Sports Media, the future is bright. That dude is good.

Heard Colin Pittsburgh Dad Jr. crying about this kid hugging his friend after the game. Didn't even last long enough to hear the remaining 15 seconds before a commercial.

The pitcher should have bought him ChickFilA.

What's the hook here? That its competition so why did he do that? This sounds like a comically bad take.

Pretty much, Pittsburgh Dad Jr. was upset that he didn't celebrate with his teammates and that his teammates should question his loyalty or some nonsense.

It shouldn't have been that big of a deal, and the kid hugged his friend. Who cares.

Yeah, the Sporting News tweet of that video had some very interesting viewpoints on it. Like how the pitcher was a loser and should be shunned by his teammates for being soft, and another guy said that his championship ring should be melted down while he was wearing it because he’s not worthy of it.

As someone with kids who play sports, I thought it was refreshing to see something like that. So much assholery on athletic fields these days, for what amounts to a (usuallly) meaningless game. Obviously, this wasn’t meaningless, but 99% of the games played don’t result in a championship of any sort. It warms the heart to see someone value a friendship over the results of a sports game.

For the 30 seconds I listened yesterday, Starkey had on Gentile and were discussing Kessel/Brassard for Skinner/Staal. I put this hear rather than Pens related because as Joe mentioned, there are no rumors, reports, or sources. They just made it up and starting debating it.

People like sports talk. Madden is only on for three hours a day. You can only hear ESPN Radio 970 if you're standing in, or next to, the broadcast location. Also Adam Crowley sucks.

Hey now, Crowley is the man. Check out his “cheese tease” he posts on Twitter before every show.

Also, fear not everyone, as The King of Old School himself, John Steigerwald, will finally be getting a radio show of his own soon too.

Everytime Ray Fittipaldo is on, Pittsburgh Dad Jr. has to bring in some reference to where Ray grew up. Yinzer accent asking and a yinzer accent answering. It should be a drinking game. Wonder if Ray ever gets tired of it?

Today Pittsburgh Dad Jr. asked Ray his opinion about the high school player issue (even though Ray was on to talk Steelers) and Pittsburgh Dad Jr. made a reference to the Dormont Little League or something. It was a waste of two minutes when they have like five minutes to talk to a guest to begin with.
