now stick to the damn topic and stop fixating on anonymous internet personalities...that's what sunk LGP!....jackasses!! :P
(yes, admin knows)
I think what sunk LGP was it's own success. It got too big, every whacko joined, and a few boorish (though sometimes knowledgeable) posters came to dominate, and continue to dominate, the discussions, to the point where they are pretty much unbearable. Not to mention that the mods were pretty inconsistent and arbitrary.

The nice thing about 5AF right now is that it is a small group of knowledgeable and fairly level-headed people. Hopefully that won't change.

It was always weird to me that he high-tailed it to Boston while his wife was still here writing for the Trib. He can be an annoying, holier than thou d-bag with a Napoleon complex, but I enjoyed him with Bob on The X's morning show (don't know if I've listened to Abby for more than 5 minutes since Tim and Bob moved on) and hoped The Fan would bring him in as to replace Giannotti.

Some of them are better now that they are over here. So far. :pop:

That voy site reminds me of LGP/Iglooreport in the late 1990s.

I found it interesting that Nate Barnes disappeared off DK's masthead without explanation (initially). DK then clarified that it was his fault - solely - for jumping the gun on his hiring:
Three weeks ago, I announced the hiring of Nate Barnes as our full-time Pirates beat writer. For a variety of reasons, all of which should be pinned on me and no one else, it didn’t work out that way. You’ll still see his work here on occasion as a contributor, but we’re going to delay having a full-time Pirates beat writer until February or so.

Traditional media outlets almost never announce these things — good luck, for example, finding Post-Gazette or Trib mentions about when I left either of those papers — but I wanted to do this because of the unique relationship we have and so that, if anyone has any finger to point, it’s squarely at me. That’s absolutely where it belongs.

Not sure about that. I liked them together at first, but I got so sick of Benz after a while. I wonder if they would even pull Bob from producing Madden's show anyway...

Yeah, I don't think it will happen, but I enjoyed them together. They had a nice balance. But don't see it happening.

Id love to see Tim and Bob back together in the morning. I never really listened to them until Tim's last year before he left (because I couldnt take DVE or the Fan Morning Show anymore), but I really enjoyed them.

Did anyone hear the guy on the fan yesterday who has the "highly superior autobiographical memory"? Fewer than 60 people in the world identified with it. He can remember almost everything about every day of his life. It was pretty crazy. Starkey was testing him on what happened in random Steelers games.

It's the "Bob Pitrella" segment here: http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/audio/starkey-mueller/
If you've got 20 minutes to burn at work, it's entertaining.

Joe Starkey will not shut up about this stupid exchange he had with deangelo Williams and is whining non stop about how snippy Williams was with him. No one cares joe.

The morning show was yapping about something this morning. Tough guy Pittsburgh Dad Jr. had his from the streets jive going. IIRC Williams was just annoyed by the durability question, I doubt he even knows who Joe Starkey is.

Funny because...when Ryan Clark bowed up on and made Fillipponi his dodint live on the air from Nakama...no one on that station said a damn word to stick up for their "friend". Complete radio and social media silence.

I vaguely remember that. I'm pretty sure the context was Filiponi brought up a clear low brain level fan talking point and Ryan Clark schooled him for being stupid enough to entertain the idea.

Would make some sense given his connections to the Trib with his wife writing about fancy parties for them, but damn talk about a career on a downward trajectory.

Jeff Hathhorn filling in for Colin Pittsburgh Dad Jr. has been a welcome change to TFMS. Pittsburgh Dad Jr.'s reason for being out really sucks and I'm glad to see on Twitter that his daughter is doing well, but Hathhorn and Colony was a no nonsense show with nothing but sports talk. Usually only hear that on the weekends with Tab Douglas or Pomp.

I cannot imagine Tim Benz going to Trib Live unless it is to replace Guy Junker, and that would be insane.

Or to replace Ken Laird (maybe he is going to Boston permanently, he and his wife live there and Laird works remotely most of the time).
