I made 3 trips through the dial on the way in and it sure seemed like they had plenty of uninterrupted time for Hagman from Day 2 at Pirate City. Riveting.

The live read ads are horrendous. Who thought that was a good idea?

I used to care, now I just think Steigerwald and Cook should be euthanized.

If you're going the "why listen" route, I turned to DVE and they had their imaginary Steely McBeam character talking about how he dressed in a wig and dress because JuJu made that Valentine's post. I landed on the Kiss 96.1 crew and of course it's just Mikey screaming over and over, because the louder you yell = the funnier you are. Other talk radio is all politics. I can only take so much music and FM morning DJ's in the mornings.

I gotta get back into listening to podcasts. It's hard in the morning though, just want mindless material.

So meta.

This is the second time in the last day I've seen you complain about complainers.

You don't find the constant inane whining to be tiring in some threads?

If you are referring to me complaining about complainers in the pirate thread.... I am one of the three or four pirate thread OGs, so I reserve the right to say my piece in that thread.

Yes and no. I don't come here looking for philosophical truths. I see it more akin to a bar where people can just show up and say their piece; if they happen to be venting frustrations then so be it. If that's all it ever becomes then I'll stop coming to the bar. I come here looking for nuggets of wisdom, not a polished volume of work.

I've dialed back a lot of the stuff I complain about lately because it doesn't really affect me and nobody cares. Like, I haven't listened to MM or any Pittsburgh radio since before the holidays. It's just white noise and crying; so I'm pretty much 100% full podcast now. I get to pick the complainers I like!

podcasts, audiobooks, satellite radio - anything is better than listening to OTR radio. I have lapses between my audiobooks where I may listen to the radio for a couple days, but after that I usually dig through the podcast thread in here to see if there's anything worth while. If nothing, silence is actually pretty soothing compared to what's on the radio.

You can **** right off if you're hating on Hagman. He's one of the only legit well-spoken people employed by that station.

I was more going for live discussion of Day 2 from Pirate City sucks. But yeah Hagman sucks too. Of all things seemed like they shut down the commercial cycle for that.

If this place had a like button, I would have hit it for this post.

I always looked at this thread as a place to vent about how bad Pittsburgh Sports Media is. I doubt any of us are coming in to say "hey, did you hear Pittsburgh Dad Jr., Benz, Zeise, etc. vent about subject X today? Man he was really on point." We all get it. There's not much to give a :thumb: :thumb: about on the media side as long as we are stuck with the jabronies that are currently on the dial. Doesn't mean we can't have a good time ranting about it. And you're right, if it becomes too much - even for this thread - we can always step away.

And yes, I could change the station. But it's the choice of either listening to STP/No Sleep Til Brooklyn for the 1050th time on the X, listening to whatever they play on 96.1 that isn't in my interests, or listening to the primarily pre-1989 setlist that WDVE will never break away from.

It’s a good place to vent. I’d like to stop listening but it draws me back in and I need t often, like looking at a car crash.

And where else would you post about Twitter fights/drama between Madden and Pittsburgh Dad Jr.??

It's like that Funhouse account that posts clips of Francesa. It's funny. Where's the entertainment in just not listening to how bad it can get.

Paraphrasing....

Get in the car, turn on The X. Madden: "If you think Ben is responsible for the Antonio Brown situation, you're a **** idiot. GFY."

Commercial break, turn on Da Fan. Mueller: "The Antonio Brown situation is Ben's fault."

Yup. That checked out.
