This morning I was thinking about how much I miss Giannotti.
You and I were sharing brainwaves then.

And I don't mind Poni at all anymore. I loathed him when he had his solo show in the evenings, but he's much much better since joining Cook.

I'd love to see Poni go to the morning show somehow. Even better if Pittsburgh Dad Jr. went to afternoons so Ron Cook could cut him down a few pegs every once in a while.

That is a really good article. I signed up for his site and I really enjoy it. Gets a different perspective on things and I like DK.

Took a big risk, and at least in the short term beginning, it is definitely paying off.

I listen to Gio and Jones a lot on radio.com (since no stations actually carry it. Their total number of listeners nationwide is probably less than TFMS). It's pretty good. Way too much NBA talk.

My favorite part of the Gio and Jones Show is that a guy whose last name does not bear any resemblance to "Gio" and had never previously been called Gio at any point in his life, suddenly has the nickname Gio because that's the best name for the show corporate could think up.

I'm skeptical for it's long term success. I thought it was odd that he said he didn't compete with the newspaper, but then clearly states that the viability of his site is to siphon off the readers that only want to go to the sports section on newspapers.

I think his formula immediately opens up his base to further specialization. His site doesn't offer enough comprehensive analysis to not lose Pirate readers to the Pirates prospects paid site, or to other future sites that can provide readers with better x's and o's talk on the steelers and penguins.

But maybe that's just me, I know I'm not interested in the beat writer/columnist that seems to be his site goal. I have considered a Pirates Prospects subsrcription, but never once considered a DK one.

Mark Madden getting his own TV show?!?!
http://www.post-gazette.com/ae/tv-radio ... 1507210017

On local WPNT 22. Looks like it will be video footage of his radio show, similar to the old Howard Stern TV show from years ago.
I did see a few months ago that WPNT is going to focus on local sports, they already have the WB/S Pens games and picked up a full slate of high school football games. I'm wondering if Madden is the first step to a newer version of a local sports channel, like KBL/FSN/ROOTSports used to be.
Wouldn't it be great if they had an updated version of SportsBeat?

There's a long list of people I would rather look at for two hours than Mark Madden.

Oh for sure, no doubt Dickie. I was sitting here trying to think of young guys I wouldn't mind seeing on a new local TV sports station.
There are some good radio guys but TV is different. I don't mind the old guys like Steigerwald, Savran, Junker, Fedko but I think the ship has sailed for them.

You have a long list? Can you post some names?

He was just ripping on madden for being fat and generally unappealing visually.

He's the only one that would work in this format, because he's the only Pittsburgh sports talk guy with an entertaining show.

I don't think that Pittsburgh Dad Jr. is a horrible as Mueller, so he has that going for him.

Mueller was better overnight when there are less constraints on topics. I was listening to Paul Zeise one night @~ 1:00am and it was pretty funny. He was discussing this story....my wife and I were cracking up on the way home from the drive-in.

@Todd_the_Fraud: Is it true that @MarkMaddenX once backed down from @jimwexell ??? #wewantthetruth

@MarkMaddenX: @Todd_the_Fraud @jimwexell Far from it. He blindsided me physically after a Steelers game. I acted professionally. He's a punk& a drunk.

@MarkMaddenX: @Todd_the_Fraud @jimwexell Had it happened someplace else, I wouldn't have acted professionally. &won't, if it happens again.

@jimwexell: @MarkMaddenX @Todd_the_Fraud haha, anytime anywhere fatso.
