Oh I almost forgot. I reached the apex of my Fan afternoon show Buffalo song obsession. I literally heard it, and I do mean literally, the second I hit the button to switch over on my way home yesterday. My work here is done. What my work was, I have no idea. But I can only conclude that if I listened to a full show on any given day, they play that every 15 or 20 seconds. That's the only explanation.
You made it further than I did. Every time I switched, I would hear "Pittsburgh Spoooooorts Radio, Ninety Three Seveeeeeen.......THE FAN!!" I can't stand that jingle, and they haven't changed it since they came to Pittsburgh.
Yeah, I hated then and hate it now. I get they were trying for some old time radio thing but its so awful and cringey. So you hear that, the hosts will say "93.7 The Fan" or just "93.7" or "The Fan" or sometimes "KDKA-FM". I understands its some psychological thing so you remember what you are listening to but it is awful.

It's very bizarre to hear Hoge taking that stance. I remember hearing a story about one of his concussions where they found him on a different floor of the hospital and he had no idea how he got there.

Maybe he doesn't remember what he no longer remembers...

You'd think someone who suffered the effects firsthand would not be a denier...
Very bizarre indeed.

I think Hoge was also the one who was driving home one day and had to call for somebody to pick up him up because he didn't know where he was.

DVE had Roy Wood Jr., Steve Byrne, and Billy Gardell on this morning and went about 25 minutes without a commercial break. Wonder how many Da Fan had in that time period.

how many actual funny things were said in that 25 minutes

of that 25 minutes, how much time was allotted to the following topics: bad yinzer jokes, overly sentimental views of Pittsburgh, fake laughter, and actual compelling content

Most minutes for the formers and very little if at all for the most latter.

*Cue a philosophical Original Mattress Factory commercial that makes me question life*

Poni has his Christmas shopping done and he apparently got everyone a My Pillow. Oh, and his wife is a good cook but he loves Omaha Steaks.

I know too much about him

I was always a big ‘DVE guy growing up. And I like Crawford, Baumann and Prisuta a lot, but it’s just not the same as it was for me years ago.

Randy is the king at being a total clown. I see no reason why anyone kept that guy in that time slot this long. When Krenn left, it went worse even further than it was.

Eddy Crow is still banished some local yokel station? He was actually an interesting person to catch on the radio.

I don’t see him ever going anywhere. The ratings never go down and only his name is on the show. When he’s on vacation Bill Crawford isn’t even allowed to talk.

Junker and Crow remains the best multihost sports talk show in this city in my lifetime. I can’t think of any that even compare.

Junker and Crow was the greatest ever. Trib Live Radio when it was just Junker and Laird was good as well.

Crow had the vibe of shooting the **** with guy next door about beer and fishing. Loved the sincere everyman aspect.

Don’t Starkey and Mullsy give off that vibe too, though? Just don’t talk light beer with Mullsy.

DK fired Katie Brown, and the move was “emphatically agreed on” by the other Penguins writers over there. Also, he hired another guy - Chris Bradford currently of the Beaver County Times - as a general reporter last week.
