Guys I gotta say. Idk how you listen to this stuff. I put on the Pitt pregame show on the way in Saturday. It was on a commercial when I turned it on, 8 minutes of commercials, then 2 minutes of the host doing ad reads, so at least ten minutes in between their attempts at talking sports which includes the sounds made referenced above. It was bad

The Fan's morning show's producer today literally said this during their useless "headline" segment: "The Penguins play at 10:30 tonight at the Anaheim Ducks, so that's why the game is on so late." That's it, that was the only "headline" thing he said. Such hard hitting and breaking news, jesus.

I completely missed the Thompson story.

I agree with MM as well and your point about him being the messenger. One of the more annoying things about MM (there are so many) is that he's a legitimately good writer and journalist who abandoned it because of his radio success. He still writes (obviously) but it's lazy ****, he doesn't go into locker rooms or press conferences, and skates by thanks to the power of his name.

Yeah.... also, I don't know that she has specified how often this happens, not that it matters, but it says a lot about how useless these interviews are that no coach ever said "Hey, I never talked to Charissa Thompson....." not that they were watching, obviously and she probably kept it innocuous enough that no family member ever asked.

Guy who has for decades made an excellent living out of abusing callers to his show opines about the deteriorating state of the media. He just made the list.

Sadly I listen to him fairly often this time of year because the Fan talks almost no hockey. Seriously if you go to the Audacy app and look to replay their hockey segments, there are almost none. 5 minute interview with Tyler Kennedy here and there, maybe.

Yeah the morning show talk to TK for five-six minutes a week and that's it but has the blubbering bafoon Kaboly on for hours every week.

I heard TK on with the PM Team earlier in the week and he was as insightful as I remember. By all accounts a good dude, but he was a junior hockey injury away from shoveling cow **** for a living and having a significantly less attractive wife.

I saw someone on Reddit say "Paul Zeise sounds like a tuba eating a rancid sandwich in the fort Pitt tunnel" and I thought that was pretty apt.

The Fan having both Zeise and Kaboly on this week was a decision. I guess there was some sort of oaf quota to meet.

The Athletic's content has been added to Apple News+. I was wondering why I was seeing Kaboly and Yohe articles in my News+ feed. The Athletic has such a hard paywall I am kind of shocked they'd give up the content like that. News+ is a good deal, but I'm not sure I would pay for it on its own. We get the super duper Apple Premium plan because of storage, Apple Music, and Apple TV+ bundling.

News+ also includes News Corp publications like the WSJ and the TImes of London, too. Plus a bunch of McClatchy newspapers.

Interesting re: Mack. Back when the rumors started and Madden chimed in, he basically said that come January, Pittsburgh Dad Jr. would be gone. But it’s actually Mack who’s gone and Pittsburgh Dad Jr. now does the evening show and stuff on the AM side. So was Mack the one that started it, if the rumors are true?

If they did in fact choose Pittsburgh Dad Jr. over Mack, what a stupid decision. Mack isn't that good either but Pittsburgh Dad Jr. is so grating. I was in the car a few times this week after 6PM and tuned into Pittsburgh Dad Jr.'s show and its exactly how you'd thought it would be. In fact, most of the time he was doing off topic rants where he sounded like a old time boomer Yinzer. Ugh.

If that doesn't complete discredit the entire Pittsburgh sports media ecosystem, then I don't know what does. So all these comings and goings seem irrelevant

This was shocking to me because if anyone sounds like your white trash ex girlfriend's dad doing a radio show, it's Zeise.
