Based on how he handles Twitter, this seems likely.Heard from a source that Pittsburgh Dad Jr. won’t be returning to radio and will just be writing columns. Da Fan has him on probation. I guess nothing physical ever happened just words.

Looks like PDJ was demoted to on the beat reporting. He's calling in at 3PM to the PM team lol.

His explanation for the change is that getting up at 2:45 am for 7-8 years sucks and he was “presented with this opportunity” to “go around to the different stations” and report on things. Basically KDKA-affiliated stations, not just Da Fan.
Also, his reasoning for not asking a question was it was already asked and he doesn’t like when reporters ask things “just to be heard.”

And where does that leave Chris Mack?

He's been doing podcasts and wrote an article and stuff.

Greg Gianotti (SP) used the morning show to get himself into a national gig. Pittsburgh Dad Jr. used it to become a roving reporter lmao what a promotion #undefeatedinthestreets

Both Mack and Pittsburgh Dad Jr. (in that order) were (separate) guests on the morning show this morning. I caught some of Mack while I was in the car - seems genuinely excited to do what he's doing (guest spots, columns, other as yet unnamed stuff). Is also filling in for Poni on the PM Team this afternoon. I did not hear Pittsburgh Dad Jr. as I was at my dr's appointment when he was on, but heard Crowley mention afterwards that he didn't want to get too personal and wanted to "stick to the nuts and bolts" which to me was HILARIOUS - in other words, you finally got slapped down after all these years because you 100% did something WRONG, whatever it may be. Also mentioned that Pittsburgh Dad Jr. "may be helping Zeise with some stuff on the AM side in a few weeks."
Shortly after, Crowley officially announced the morning show is he and Dorin and then they went on some slobberfest about how great Mack and Pittsburgh Dad Jr. are, how they're all such good friends, how they will be even better positioned to "help the station" and "help the brand." It was some heavily-laid BS - but you gotta tow that company line. He also came right out and said it was "awkward" to talk to them today.
What a bizarre few weeks for Da Fan.

Ha, I missed that as well. Wish I would have heard it. But honestly, I"m glad it's those two now. I like listening to them.
And Pittsburgh Dad Jr. just seemed like a major pain to work with, and probably went a step to far with his ego and now is paying for it.

Sports media in other markets can possibly be this weird, right?

I remember there being a lot of drama in Philly sports news prior to the pandemic when I used to listen to it in my car on the way to the train station.

Pittsburgh Dad Jr. was on yesterday promoting some article that he was writing.
The ad that they rolled into after his segment started with "Looking for a new career?"

Pittsburgh Dad Jr. thinks people are stupid the way he spins this company line as a "promotion" or something he wanted to do when he and Mack just left the show suddenly in the middle of the week with no announcement. If this intern level reporting and fill-in work was in the works for awhile it would've been announced not just an awkward phone interview on the PM Team explaining what he's been up to, lol. I agree with the sentiment on social media that this is probably just busy work until his contract runs out and then he isn't renewed. Probably the same with Mack. But at least it sounds like he will be allowed to co-host other shows again. Not a lawyer, but I imagine the station would get sued if they tried to dismiss while under contract. Hell, Pittsburgh Dad Jr. will probably try to sue even after his contract isn't renewed.
Anyway, all this is hilarious.

I don't really want to hear Pittsburgh Dad Jr. or DK on the radio every again. Both are insufferable, and it's been for the better that they've both had spats with networks so they haven't been on.

Looks like The Athletic is purging staff this week, including Rob Biertempfel. Very strange that he only covered home games, like the rest of the Athletic beat reporters.

DK is probably excited. He has said the Athletic is a money suck that will not work long term and probably is happy everytime something bad happens to them.
